How to send GIFs in the Messages app in iOS 10

Messages in iOS 10

It is well known by all that Apple has renewed (And in what way!) The Messages application in iOS 10 with many new features that will undoubtedly face other instant messaging platforms such as WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. The ability to send GIFs It is one of these novelties, however, it is not as visible as emojis.

Messages now includes a built-in GIF search, so no need for a third-party keyboard in order to perform this search. Something similar to what Telegram already has in its application.

To search and send these GIFs you will only have to follow the steps that we indicate:

  • Once inside the conversation, click on the arrow which is next to where the text is entered.
  • We choose the icon «Applications»And the applications installed in iMessage will appear on the keyboard.
  • We slide to the right or left to switch between all the available applications until we find «images«, Which can be in any position.
  • Once there, we will find the featured GIFs and we will be able to click «find images and videos»To find specific GIFs for whatever moment of conversation, from hello to dance.
  • When you see the GIF you want to send, you just have to touch it and will appear directly in the text input ready to be sent.

However, there will be those who find it a bit cumbersome process and opt for other options to send the GIFs. One of these options are third party keyboards like Gborad or GIFBoard that have a built-in search for ready-to-send GIFs. But like everything, it has its drawbacks, and that is that they are not official Apple keyboards and as we already know, they do not work at 100% performance as the default does.

That option was only a short time in the 10.0.1 update, at least in mine. Now it does not appear, however I could install others such as Smileys, Classic Mac, Hearts and Hands, apart from Music. Any idea why I don't have it anymore?

Hello Juanma, indeed this option has been a little, even it has not appeared to many users in the GM beta of iOS 10. It is one of the aspects that we hope will be corrected after the official launch this afternoon.

Since I updated the beta to official, the option has disappeared. Big mistake
