Series 4 fall detection saved a man's life in Sweden

The fourth generation of the Apple Watch, the Series 4, was one of the devices that most attracted attention during the last keynote September at the event in which Apple presented the new iPhone XS, XS Max and iPhone XR, a device that from today is available in the Apple Store.

And I say that it attracted more attention, thanks to the new functions that it offers us compared to the previous generation. On the one hand, they found the possibility of performing electrocardiograms, a function that is currently only available in the United States. The other great novelty is the fall detector.

The fall detector of the Apple Watch Series 4, is in charge of calling the contact that we have previously established or the emergency services when we fall and we do not move, either because we cannot or because we have lost consciousness.

How this fantastic option works Gustavo Rodríguez has verified it in Sweden. As we can read in the Swedish medium Aftonbladet:

Gustavo, 34, suffered a sudden back injury and fell paralyzed to the kitchen floor. "It felt like someone had stuck a knife in my back," he says. Fortunately, his watch answered.

On Friday, Gustavo Rodríguez stood by the stove as usual and cooked the food. Suddenly he felt a strange tension in his back and it became increasingly difficult to move his body. Gustavo tried not to think about it. But then I moved the pan and realized. I felt as if someone had stuck a knife in my back, says Gustavo.

He fell to the ground. The pain was so strong that everything turned black. He couldn't move. Then the clock chimed and he asked, "Do you want to call 112?" "My Apple Watch had felt the drop and was wondering if it should make an emergency call," Gustavo said.

Apple Watch drop detection Automatically activated on Series 4 for customers 65 and older or more, although you can also activate it manually through the iPhone Clock application if you are under 65 years old (although Apple warns that some activity could be confused with drops in more active clients).

And because of a back injury, the clock has "saved his life"? what was he dying of then exactly?

Ok and if I am unconscious and the clock calls when they answer who will speak to notify what happens to me

And what do you want? that the clock gives you first aid and carries you to the emergency room? wait a few more decades, it has been enough to detect that you fell, imagine that that back pain would not allow him to stand up anymore and he would have hit his head and was bleeding to death, don't you think the clock would have saved his life?
