Siri can now recognize songs with Shazam technology

Siri-Music

It was one of the still-to-be-discovered features of iOS 8, and it's available now. Someone at Apple has pressed the corresponding button and it is possible that Siri recognizes songs, without the need to have any additional software installed, like Shazam, technology that iOS uses to do it natively. Siri's response is unpredictable, using her signature "sense of humor" and also offering you a link to directly purchase the song she identified from the iTunes store.

This novelty, together with the new possibility of invoke Siri without pressing a button using the command "Hey Siri", allows us to identify almost any song fragment that is playing near us without fear that when we get our iPhone or iPad, we unlock it and open Shazam the song has ended, as it happened too often before. To call Siri to our aid, all you have to do is say "Hey Sir" with the intensity necessary for our device to "hear us", taking into account that it must be connected to a power source, a requirement that Apple requires to avoid wasting battery extra that would mean always having our iPhone or iPad listening.

The only downside to this feature compared to Shazam's is that it does not save the identified songs, something very useful if we want to see them later to buy them or listen to them again, an option that the most famous music recognition software in the world also offers us. The best? Have both possibilities, with Shazam installed and with Siri as a quick resource for those musical fragments that appear in commercials of just 20 seconds.

One more reason to upgrade to iOS 8 even if it means losing the jailbreak. Keyboards, Widgets, Extensions and now Siri, still can't find a reason to decide? Let us know in the comments.

As a Smartwatch + and jaibreak user, I need Pebble to inform me on the screen of the number of mails and whatsapps that I have new without reading or responding, and I still do not know if iOS8 will allow the developer to access this information without JB. For that reason I have not yet updated.
