The last keynote left a bittersweet taste for all those users who had placed their hopes in that Apple gives the definitive push to the HomeKit platform, with which we can control the home automation of our home thanks to all the compatible devices that are coming to the market. A few weeks ago we showed you several devices that are already compatible with HomeKit and that allow us to control the lights, temperature, opening and closing of doors through our phone ...

In the keynote the only mention of this platform was that all devices would be synchronized with all our iDevices thanks to iCloudTherefore, it is not necessary to have an Apple TV to control the home automation of our home as had been rumored until then. HomeKit allows us to control the devices through voice commands, some of them, for the most part, are common commands also for Brillo (Google's HomeKit). Here are several of the commands that Apple has made public:

  • Turn on the lights / Turn off the lights
  • Dim the lights / Set the intensity to a 50 %
  • Dim the lights on the dining room
  • Set the temperature to 24 degrees
  • Turn on the coffee maker
  • Turn on the lights on the stairs above
  • Turn on the light in the room Nacho
  • Turn off the lights in the kitchen
  • Turn on the living room lights at full intensity
  • Set the temperature of the house Benidorm en 24 degrees
  • Turn on the office printer
  • Set party mode
  • Dinner mode
  • Night mode

Remember that HomeKit comes configured with four different modes that we can configure to our liking, establishing which devices connect and disconnect as we select the mode. For example, in the morning mode, we can configure it so that when we wake up, the blinds of the whole house are raised and the coffee machine is connected. All those functions that we have always seen in movies will soon be a reality in our homes / offices.
