Seeing the success achieved by Monument Valley, it is normal that other developers are inspired by Ustwo's game. Skyward is one of those titles that has borrowed the appearance of Monument Valley and it offers us a series of strange structures that change as we progress through the game.
Skyward's gameplay is also different from Monument Valley. In this case we have a couple of circles that rotate alternately. When we see that the rotating circle is on the next tile of the structure, we tap on the screen to fix it and that the disk that was previously still, now begins to rotate. Combining this mechanic permanently, we will be able to travel the strange paths that Skyward proposes us.
If when touching the screen the circle is not aligned with the surface of the maze, then the game will be over and we will have to start over again.
The game is very addictive, inviting us to start a new game every time we make a mistake to try to beat our previous score.
The problem that Skyward has is precisely the one that may make it a success: its resemblance to Monument Valley. The game is very similar on an aesthetic level and this is creating the false feeling that it is a free installment or very similar to the Ustwo game. Because of this and its advertising display policy, Skyward is already getting bad reviews on the App Store.
It is a shame because the game is well resolved and manages to entertain but with 1,4 million applications in the App Store, it is normal that these types of resources have to be used for llick the attention of users.
