Snapseed is updated offering support for RAW files

Snapseed

The Google photo editor, Snapseed has just received a major update in its version for iOS, among which we find new functions and improvements in the user interface. With this update the application reaches version 2.9 whose main novelty is the compatibility with RAW files. Snapseed now supports RAW formats that create 144 camera models on the market, so that we will be able to modify the exposure, the colors, the white balance ... in all those photographs in which the conditions in which we have taken the image were not correct.

This update also brings us a new tool called Face that allows us to highlight the faces in the photographs, in addition to correcting skin imperfections, eliminating red eyes as well as making them clearer ... The treatment that images in JPG format receive when we export them has also been improved, so that we are going to to be able to configure the ideal compression level so that the image conforms as closely as possible to reality.

What's new in version 2.9 of Snapseed

  • New Face tool: a photographic tool with which you can highlight faces more, remove skin imperfections and brighten eyes.
  • RAW for iOS - Full, native, non-destructive RAW support for 144 camera models. Brighten shadows, bring back highlights, add structure and detail to original RAW data, apply fine White Balance adjustments to native RAW data, and many more options.
  • Set the compression rate you prefer for JPG, or even save them without losing data (PNG) when you export them.
  • UI tweaks and bug fixes.

Our team has been working for many years to profile 144 camera models so that Snapseed can read all the sensor data from the RAW file. Now when you change the exposure on a RAW file in Snapseed it's like adjusting the settings on the camera itself: The high resolution, fully dynamic range data from the CCD or CMOS chip can already be changed.

As a Google application, Snapseed is found available for download completely free on the App Store.
