Apple Offers Solutions to Apple Watch Charging Issues and iPhone Battery Drain

A small number of "early adopters" of an Apple Watch are reporting problems when charging the smartwatch, as well as a excessive consumption of the battery of the iPhone to which they are connected, as we can see on Apple forums and on Twitter. According to documents received by some news media, Apple is already aware of the problems and offering solutions that could help affected users.

Users who have charging problems say that the Apple Watch is physically connected to your charger and with the notice that it is loading correctly, but in reality the energy does not arrive or arrives less than it should, as if the cable was not connected. In some cases, the problem appears to be software, and one of the following solutions might address the problem.

  • We turn off and restart the clock. To do this first we will keep the side button, then we slide the "slider" to turn it off. Once off, we force a reboot.
  • If the above method doesn't work, we restart the iPhone paired to the smartwatch, we open the Apple Watch application and we remove the settings and content going to General / Reset. We pair the clock again to see if everything works correctly.

Some users have found that, in their case, the problem appears to exist due to hardware defects, in which case they just have to use the warranty to replace the watch or charging station. The problems are being studied by Apple.

On the other hand, there are users who complain about the excessive battery consumption that paired iPhones are suffering, a fact that seems to be a problem related to an iOS bug. There are cases in which the Apple Watch application consumes 31% of the battery of a normal day and some more worrying that ensures that, without using almost the iPhone, it only passes barely noon.

To fix these problems, the company led by Tim Cook is preparing its AppleCare representatives with a series of tests, reboots and repairs, as well as conducting a test with a USB adapter connected to a power supply for 5 minutes.

Before exchanging the Apple Watch, representatives must check moisture condensation on rear sensor, examine the watch for physical damage, and look for applications that may cause this disproportionate battery drain. If they do not find any fault of the mentioned ones, the representatives will evaluate if the best option is a change or a repair.
