Sonos Ace already has TV Swap with all its sound bars and Android

Sonos Ace Headphones

What was promised is debt and Sonos already has added its most affordable sound bars to the TV Swap functionality of the Sonos Ace, and now it will not be necessary to have an iOS device to configure it, it can also be done from the application on Android devices.

One of the most differential features of the Sonos headphones was TV Swap, which allows you to send the sound of your television from the Sonos sound bar to the headphones simply by pressing a button. This functionality was limited at launch to the brand's most expensive sound bar, the Sonos Arc, and it was also necessary to have the Sonos app on an Apple device to configure it. The brand promised that this functionality would reach the rest of the brand's sound bars before the end of the year, and it is already a reality after the update of the Sonos application. TV Swap is now possible with any of the brand's sound bars, Sonos Beam 1st and 2nd generation, including the most affordable of all, Sonos Ray. In addition, this functionality can now be configured in the Android application, something that was previously only possible with the iOS application.

In addition to this important improvement, the new app update includes the following changes:

  • Tool to download from S2 to S1
  • Improved smoothness and reduced latency for group volume controls on iOS
  • Mute buttons for individual products on group volume controls
  • Group volume controls from the Now Playing screen in iOS
  • Ability to clear queue on iOS
  • Improved performance for large queues on iOS
  • Ability to “forget system” on Android
  • Improved reliability for voice enhancement and night mode settings on iOS
  • Improved reliability when starting playback from a playlist on Android

The TV Swap feature uses a direct WiFi connection from the Sonos soundbar to the Sonos Ace headphones, and is activated with the press of a button, using the same gesture to turn it off and return to listening to the sound on the soundbar. It works with any content that you are playing on television, even with game consoles, being a very comfortable and practical feature for when you want to enjoy your movies or series at night, or to play your game console without disturbing the other members of the house or to the neighbours. The sound will be played in the headphones with spatial audio and head tracking if you wish. The update that will allow a similar 7.1 system in the headphones through the TrueCinema option is still pending, but we will still have to wait for that.
