Well, we already have "official" words from the company, and they are not exactly good news for those users, because according to a company source the development of the application for Apple TV is not at all a priority for the streaming music service, and although it is in the plans of Spotify, it will not arrive in the near future. The confrontation between Spotify and Apple could be one of the causes of this decision.
Neither Spotify for tvOS nor for watchOS, the music service application is available for Mac and iOS, but not for the other two platforms that have already completed the year and that see how time passes and their application does not arrive. Taking into account that the development of an application for these platforms is only an adaptation of the existing applications for iOS and that it would not be necessary to start a development from scratch, It seems that it is a capricious decision of Spotify that to punish Apple would be harming the users of its service who use these devices. A successful strategy or a shot in the foot? In my opinion, rather the second option, but the decision is to assume that it will be considered and not the result of a simple heat from the directors of Spotify.
Spotify's confrontation with Apple has been going on for a long time, since the launch of Apple Music, and had its maximum intensity when Apple rejected an update to its application for iOS by including a link that led to the Spotify website to subscribe, something clearly prohibited in the terms of Apple that requires that the subscriptions made from the applications for iOS are from within the App Store as in-app purchases. Even so, spotify can be played through Airplay, which gives you the advantage of being able to play music that is not in the spotify catalog but that is on the phone (music that was synchronized to the Spotify App from the pc), something That cannot be done through chromecast since it says that this song is not available in my region and I imagine that the same thing will happen in an official application on AppleTV.
