Spotify is restricting the use of unauthorized apps

About 88 million Spotify users use the Free account, and of those, it appears that One group uses modified versions of Spotify that allow them to bypass the limitations of this free service.

Recall that the Spotify Free account has advertising, it has a limited number of times we can go through the song, it has no way offline and it doesn't have high-quality audio either.

But with time, applications have emerged that allow overcoming certain limitations. These modified apps, unknown to many users, seem to have ended up attracting the attention of Spotify, which has decided to take action on the matter.

For now, the users of these apps are receiving emails with the following message:

“We have detected an abnormal activity in the app you are using and we have disabled it. Don't worry, your Spotify account is safe.

To access your Spotify account, simply uninstall any unauthorized or modified Spotify apps and download and install the official Spotify app from the Google Play Store. If you need more help, please visit our article on how to reinstall Spotify.

If we detect repeated use of these unauthorized apps in violation of our terms, we reserve all rights, including to suspend or delete your account.

Thanks for being a Spotify user. "

It is not yet known what conditions or which apps should be used to receive this notice, but it is clear that Spotify is behind these types of apps.

Spotify is one of the few streaming music services that continues to maintain a completely free version of the service, unlike Apple Music or Amazon Music Unlimited, and it would be a shame if modified apps made this service disappear.

Spotify's attitude seems proportionate to what happened, since, for now, it seems that it is limited to advising users that they must install the official app from Spotify.

The notices are similar to the ones we received (myself included) when they launched Spotify Family and they reminded us that members had to reside in the same home. At that time they just blocked the account until, in my case, I put the correct address in each of the accounts of my Spotify Family.
