We continue explaining what Tim Cook and his team of collaborators are showing us this afternoon in this «Far Out" virtual. And now it has been the turn (what a surprise) of the new Series 8 of the Apple Watch. A new series of the famous Apple smartwatch that does not present anything new in terms of exterior design, but does have some interesting improvements in its functions.

The much rumored has finally been incorporated temperature sensor. A sensor that will not tell you exactly your body temperature in degrees Celsius, but the device will know if your body temperature increases or decreases compared to the last measurement made, and this data can be associated with different health and sports applications. Let's see.

As usual in the Cupertino company, Apple just presented us a few minutes ago the new range of Apple Watch this year: the Apple Watch Series 8. Let's see what's new with the new Apple smartwatch.

 no external changes

To begin with, we continue with the same exterior design. Nothing has changed here. They are the same two sizes different from 41 and 45 mm. That means that the same straps are still valid. This is an advantage, if we take into account the number of different models of straps that exist on the market, whether they are from Apple or from third-party companies. Aluminum finish color options include Midnight, Starlight, Silver and the RED Series red. The stainless steel finish has the colors silver, graphite and gold.

new straps

Although the exterior design of the case of the new Apple Watch Series 8 does not change, with the new straps that Apple launches today, the standard ones and the Hermes ones, the truth is that the Series 8 once again has a new, more innovative appearance, which it certainly encourages the user to renew his old Apple Watch.

Sensor de temperatura

One of the most widespread rumors in recent months about the new Apple Watch Series 8 was the incorporation of a sensor to measure body temperature of the user. Well, finally the Apple Watch Series 8 incorporates said sensor. But it won't tell you your exact body temperature in degrees, like a digital thermometer does, rather the Apple Watch will know every time it takes a measurement whether your body temperature is correct or not. And the different applications will be able to make use of this data, either to notify you if you have a fever, or to complement your biometric data for health or sports.

One of those applications that will use this sensor is the menstrual tracking app. By controlling the temperature of its user, the application is able to know the days of ovulation of its owner.

Traffic accident detection

Apple has improved the motion sensors in the Apple Watch Series 8, and now, like the fall detection of the current Apple Watch, also is able to detect if its user has had an accident with his car, and thus automatically notify the emergency service.

watchOS 9 built-in

Obviously, the new Apple Watch Series 8 already come with this year's new software: Watch 9. A new software loaded with news for compatible Apple Watch. New spheres, new health functions, new features in the training app, a new medication app, etc.

A new low power mode can give up to 36 hours of battery life on a single charge. Said mode disables certain functions, such as the always-on screen. It is available on Apple Watch Series 4 and later.

Price and Availability

The starting price of the Apple Watch Series 8 starts at 499 Euros for the GPS model and 619 Euros for the LTE model. It will be available from September 16.
