Super Mario Run: 10 million downloads and 4 million benefits in 24 hours

Super Mario Run and the App Store

After all the hyping that was formed around the latest Nintendo title for iOS, the following data is unlikely to surprise anyone. Last Thursday, Super Mario Run landed on the App Store and soon appeared as the most downloaded application and the one that was generating the most benefits. Today, App Annie put numbers to the success of the first official Mario game for iOS: 10 million downloads and $ 4 million in profit on its first day of life.

App Annie says it will be interesting to see if Super Mario Run manages to outperform Pokémon GO, the famous Nintendo and Niantic title that was the protagonist of some videos in which hundreds of people were seen running to get a legendary Pokémon. In addition, the comparison will also be interesting taking into account the business model used by both games.

Will Super Mario Run be a rival for Pokémon GO?

Pokémon GO was downloaded 100 million times to make a profit of about 10 million dollars per day for the three weeks following its release, setting a new record in the App Store. App Annie doesn't think Super Mario Run is going to beat Pokémon GO:

Pokémon GO uses a freemium model with optional in-app purchases to generate profits. Its benefits on iOS continued to grow in the following weeks as more users were using it. On the other hand, Super Mario Run offers a one-time in-app purchase of € 9.99 to unlock the entire game. As a result, payouts precede extended play and therefore benefits are more likely to be concentrated in the early days of the game's life cycle.

This seems to make clear what we all think: users prefer to play a title paying whatever it is and forgetting about in-app purchases, but for developers the freemium business model is much better in which any user may feel the need to make an integrated purchase at any time if it is small, but we will slow down a bit if the in-app payment is several euros. What business model do you prefer?

I don't think it will come out, it has already been difficult for them to get it out for ios because of the competition with their consoles.

I do not think it will exceed it, because in the stock market the shares of Nintendo and Dena fell

They have stopped making money, sure. If they had made it cheaper, the 4 million would have fallen short.
