While Apple makes fairly modest water resistance claims for the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, which they suggest is no more demanding than a bike ride in the rain, but this hasn't stopped people from running some rather more extreme tests with the newer iPhone models.
Various videos have been published where the new iPhone survives immersion in water, soft drinks and coffee, even being thrown into 10 meters of water. With this last test the well-known surfer, Kai Lenny, took the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus and took to the waves to test their water resistance while doing your favorite extreme sport.
The video begins by testing the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, which as expected do not survive for long, both devices stop working after about five minutes since Kai starts surfing.
El iPhone 7, however, still works perfectly after a total of 30 minutes surfing. The iPhone 7 Plus does not pass the test so well, after Kai comes out of the water he realizes that the audio is badly affected after the same 30-minute walk.
By the way, Surfing is one of a series of activities that Apple specifically advises against doing with an iPhone, so it is better that you do not do this sport with your new iPhone.
Officially Apple indicates that the waterproofing limit is 1 meter of immersion in calm water for 30 minutes. Remember that water damage to the device is not really covered by the warranty.
“IPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are water, dust and splash resistant and were tested under controlled laboratory conditions with a rating of IP67 under IEC standard 60529. Splash, water and dust resistance is not a permanent condition and resistance may decrease as a result of normal use. Do not try to charge a wet iPhone, see the user guide for cleaning and drying instructions. Liquid damage is not covered under warranty. '
But hey, here is the video where the iPhone 7 is the winner in water resistance in surfing:
But what need was there to smash two iPhones 6s? If we all know that it is not officially waterproof ... How much nonsense and how little we value things.
