New camera button location
The camera has always had a primary location within the Lock Screen, however for many users it can make it relatively inconvenient to do so. Apple insist on moving the icon too close to the lower right corner of the screen.
That is why now with the arrival of iOS 16 this icon seems to have been relocated, at least slightly, to move the location of the camera button closer to the center. This will be an advantage for many users and there is certainly no negative point to receiving complaints from absolutely anyone.
Custom background settings
One of the most interesting features of iOS 16 is precisely that of adjusting and customizing new wallpapers. However, some of the shortcuts or shortcuts can be a bit complex for a good handful of users.
When we open the background customization menu, if we make a long press on the background that we want to choose, a menu will open that will allow us to remove the custom background easily and quickly, a functionality that still seems a bit hidden. Another option to delete the wallpapers will be by sliding from the bottom to the top easily.
The same goes for the fact that if we turn to Settings > Wallpapers A button appears that refers to the function of adjusting these custom backgrounds, in which we can see a preview or quickly change them without having to invoke the wallpaper editor that we have on the Lock Screen.
Similarly, with the arrival of the new iOS 16 Betas we now have two new filters for wallpapers, these are Duotone and Color Wash, that will add filters with aged and traditional tones for wallpapers. However, this is a function that the vast majority of users will not use, since they will prefer their own editions or those provided by the photo editor integrated in the application Photos from iOS.
Backups and quick notes
If we turn to Settings > iCloud > Backup, Now the option to make backup copies will appear even if we are not connected to a WiFi network, that is, make these backup copies directly on the mobile data network of our device.
As usual, these backups will only be made at night and as long as the iPhone is connected to a charger, so it should not be a significant problem in terms of consumption and performance.
In addition, now when we take a screenshot and click on the options button that appears on the screen, or alternatively on the «OK» button to save it, It will give us the option to create a quick note with said screenshot. An interesting function to improve our productivity or simply relieve our gallery of screenshots. In addition, it will also provide us with the possibility of storing said screenshot in the application Records.
Other new features of iOS 16
- When we use multiple SIM or eSIM cards in our device, we will be allowed filter received messages in the native app depending on the mobile line in which we have received them.
- Now when we edit a message, if the recipient is not running a version of iOS 16 or later, the application will resend the same informing to the recipient that the message has been edited.
- When a privacy indicator appears, if we click on the button, we will be directed to a small tab where we can see exactly which application is the one that has used the privacy settings and of course, what sensors have been used at all times.
- When we edit a photo in the Photos app, If we click on the button (...) in the upper right corner we will be able to copy the editing settings. Later, if we go to another photo, we will be able to paste those photo editing settings so that we do not have to edit the photos one by one if they require very similar settings.
- Application Portfolio includes a new order tracking system if we have paid with Apple Pay and the provider has the necessary API.
These are some of the most hidden novelties of iOS 16. If you want to install iOS 16, the first thing we are going to do is install the iOS 16 Beta Profile, something that we will do quickly by entering a profile download website such as Beta Profiles, which will provide us with the first and only tool that we will need, which is the iOS developer profile. We will enter, press iOS 16 and proceed to download.
Once downloaded we will have to go to the section of Settings to select the downloaded profile, authorize its installation by entering the lock code from our iPhone and finally accept the restart of the iPhone.
Once we have already restarted the iPhone we simply have to go to Settings> General> Software Update and then we will see as a normal update, that of iOS 16.
