The activity of our friends will reach Spotify through “Community”

Community on Spotify for iOS

Spotify is still the most used app to listen to streaming music from almost any country in the world. Its solid track record and the great multiplatform that it has has made the expansion of its service a success. However, there are many options available on the desktop app that are not available on the mobile version. This could change soon with a novelty long awaited by all: the musical activity of our friends. Spotify is preparing the “Community” option for iOS and Android with which to consult this information currently available only in the desktop version.

Community will come to Spotify to check the activity of our friends

Our friends' activity is a feature available for the Spotify desktop app on Windows and macOS. It is a sidebar in which we can see what are the songs that are being played by our friends in addition to the playlists to which they belong. Years after incorporating this function, Spotify added the Hidden Mode to avoid leaving in this sidebar.

The musical activity of our friends has always been a highly desired option for all users. However, Spotify has been refusing to include it in apps for Android and iOS for years. Until today. Apparently, Spotify would be developing a similar option called Community. So we can see it in this tweet from the journalist Chris Messina that has had the honor of being able to have it in its app:

As we see, in Community we can access the activity of our friends and also the updates of the public playlists. Next to each friend, what they're listening to and whether they're currently listening is displayed through an animated equalizer on the right side of the screen. This feature will be a hit when Spotify releases it, that's for sure.
