The App Store prioritizes the oldest reviews of its apps

When it comes to buying or downloading an application, many users make use of the reservations and ratings given by users who have previously tried it. As a general rule, as an application reaches the App Store, the first reservations or evaluations may not be all positive that the developer might want, but over time and if the developer has committed to the application, these will improve, which contributes to the overall appraisal of the application to increase. The App Store opened its doors in 2008, and since then many applications have passed and remain in it, such as Facebook, Skype, Twitter ...

With the release of iOS 11, the App Store has become the only way to find, buy and download applications, as iTunes has stopped offering that option. The problem is that with the arrival of the new App Store, every time we start to see the appraisals and reviews of the applications, many of those shown are many years old and today do not reflect the operation or characteristics of the application. The image that heads this article shows us the values and reviews that the Facebook application that appears in the first place, some of which are more than 6 years old. Most likely it's a bug in the service, because I can't find a logical explanation for Apple to prioritize older reviews.

Currently through iTunes we can see the evaluation of the podcast, selecting the order in which we want the reviews to be displayed: most useful, most recent, most positive, most negative. In this way we can quickly see how the podcast has evolved, something that unfortunately we cannot currently see in the App Store, but we have to base ourselves on the general assessment, a general assessment that is sometimes not real, because the People download the application thinking that it does one thing, when in the description it clearly says that it does something completely different.
