The alternative to Apple Pay, CurrentC is about to close

CurrentC is delayed

A few weeks ago the MCX consortium announced that the project in which it has been working for a few years, CurrentC, was halting its launch ddue to certain operational and safety problems I was having on the platform. But it seems that these problems are more important than it seems and could force this platform to close before even being able to offer this payment service to the market, which is not based on NFC technology, but uses a compatible application with all platforms and mobiles on the market, so that its use would spread more quickly among all users.

MCX just announced the suspension of its service on June 28 among all users who are currently using the application in beta. All users who signed up for the beta program and received a gift coupon, will be able to use it until June 28, the date on which the application will stop working and the money that they will no longer be able to be recovered. beta testers would have entered this service.

MCX began developing CurrentC with the intention of offer direct payment via bank account of users without having to have a credit card. The MCX consortium is made up of large establishments such as Walmart and Best Buy, whose stores currently do not offer Apple Pay compatibility and were waiting for the launch of CurrentC to expand payment methods among their customers.

While CurrentC has the project paralyzed, Apple Pay just added 34 banks and credit institutions that already allow you to add your credit and debit cards. For now, the last country that will receive Apple Pay with open hands, as we informed you yesterday will be Switzerland, which will arrive next Monday, June 13, the same day that WWDC will be held.
