The "beautygate" will be fixed with iOS 12.1

The "beautygate" is well known, that failure that has been talked about so much and for which photos taken with the device's front camera (or selfies) came out with a beauty filter It made skin irregularities disappear, posing a serious problem for some users.

Well, this "serious" failure has its days numbered, because according to The Verge has told the update of iOS 12.1 will bring with it a new way to capture photos with the Smart HDR system that will eliminate that skin softening of self-portraits.

The Verge He tells us about it and ensures that the information comes from Apple itself. It seems that the origin of the Beautygate is in the way that the Smart HDR captures and treats the images with the front camera. So that those who do not have advanced knowledge of photography understand it (as I do) we can say that the Smart HDR system captures several images when taking a photograph. Once you have all those images, select one of them as a base and combine information from the rest to retouch it, getting an image with more details and eliminating highlights and shadows. The fault is that it takes the wrong image as its base.

Instead of taking the image with a fast shutter speed (short exposure) I used the one with a slower shutter speed (long exposure) so the end result was a less sharp image, with that smoothing of the skin that gave a beauty filter look to selfies. This bug has already been identified and will be fixed in the final version of iOS 12.1, solving the problem of the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR in one fell swoop. Another very serious bug that is solved with a simple software update that we will soon have all available for our devices.
