The dark mode of Google office applications finally available

Google Dcos dark mode

Both Google and Apple have never been known for worrying about update quickly their applications to the news released by the new versions of their own operating systems. The last example is found in the Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets applications.

These three apps have just been updated to add dark mode support, a dark mode that has been available on iOS for almost 3 years, with the launch of iOS 11, the version of iOS that came with the iPhone X, Apple's first terminal with an OLED screen.

It seems that from Google they wanted to wait for Android to implement dark mode as well, a dark mode that came from the hand of Android 10, a little over a year ago (they are currently in Android 11). However, these apps didn't get dark mode on Android until relatively recently.

Unlike other applications that do not allow the user to establish whether they want to always use a default mode, Google applications, allow us to activate this mode automatically (based on the one used by the system) or do it manually.

  • All the applications that are part of this suite of applications allow us to activate and deactivate the dark mode through the Settings menu.
  • Within the Settings menu, we must click on Theme and select: Light, Dark, or System Default.

If we set this last option and we have configured our iPhone or iPad so that the dark theme is activated at a certain time, the application will be based on this mode to show a light or dark interface, this being the best option in most cases.
