The arrival of the iPhone in 2007 was a real revolution in the world of telephony. The touch screen took on a new role and the interface of the system was totally designed to be used with the only help of our fingers.
Year after year, iOS has evolved with more or less new features but if there is something that has remained almost unchanged over time, that is the home screen. As can be seen in the image that heads this post, the iPhone homescreen has hardly changed in seven different versions.
The most notable changes occurred in iOS 4 with the possibility of use wallpapers (something that could already be done with jailbreak from the first iOS). In iOS 6 the screen size was increased with the launch of the iPhone 5 and, finally, iOS 7 redesigns the visual part by changing the icons and adding the possibility of inserting dynamic or panoramic backgrounds.
As well the number of icons has been increasing that appear as standard to be able to enjoy all the new iOS features provided by improvements in the software or hardware (compass, kiosk, game center, passbook ...).
Although in the case of the iPhone the evolution of the home screen is more limited, in the case of the iPad this is more bleeding. We have a much larger screen size and the use that Apple gives it is exactly the same as on the iPhone, that is, displaying icons in a grid. The presence of Widgets seems almost mandatory in the case of the company's tablet but that is something that we will not see at the moment.
