The guys from Google continue to expand the number of functions in the different applications that it has in the App Store. The main Google application not only offers us the Google Now assistant but also allows us to use the application as if it were a search engine but unlike using the search engine through Safari, the Google application integrates with the entire application ecosystem that the company based in Mountain View has on the App Store. As if that were not enough, Google has just announced that in a few months we will be able to locate our iOS device through Google services.
Currently in iOS we have the option Search my iPhone through iCloud to be able to find our device at all times as long as this service is activated on the device, be it iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. But soon it will not be the only option to find our device since Google will add a new option that will allow us to find our device. Obviously for this we must have any Google application installed on our device, otherwise the guys from Mountain View will not be able to perform miracles.
If we have lost our iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and we do not remember our iCloud password (something difficult), we can go to the Google search engine and write "I've lost my phone". Once Google shows us on the map where our lost device is, we can make a call or block it remotely. As I mentioned above, to activate this service we only have to have any Google application installed, such as Gmail, so that this service is automatically activated and the application takes our locations into account.
At the moment this new function will be available only in the United States, as a pilot test, but if everything works correctly it is likely that shortly the rest of the countries will be able to enjoy this function. Keep in mind that this new function is very nice in theory but it provides Google with our location at all times, so privacy in this sense takes a back seat completely.
