The Google application for iOS begins to receive the dark mode

Google app dark mode

In the last two weeks, Apple has updated two of the applications that, 9 months after the release of iOS 13, still did not support dark mode. This kind of carelessness, to call it in some way, is something quite common among large technology companies such as Google, Microsoft or Amazon without going any further.

While Gmail and other Google applications were updated to dark mode a few months ago, the search giant had completely gone from the Google application, an application with which we can enjoy its entire ecosystem to search for news, images, videos, check the weather ...

Google announced yesterday that the application for iOS would begin to receive the dark mode through the company's servers and not in an update form as is usual in these cases. Implementing this way It started today at 9 a.m. Pacific Time (6 pm Spanish time).

However, 4 hours later (when I am publishing this article) this function is still not activated in many countries, so we will probably have to wait a few more days until it is available worldwide.

According to Google, the application will show a dark or light user interface, depending on the settings that we have established on our device, so if we have configured our iPhone so that the dark mode is activated and deactivated at a specific time, this application will display the dark interface while this mode is activated.

Sadly, the implementation of dark mode with Google it's just as unfortunate as with WhatsApp, since absolute black is conspicuous by its absence. Google has interpreted that the dark mode is dark gray and not black, so users of devices with OLED screens will not notice any difference in consumption when using this mode.

Well, I don't know why, but gmail on an X is in dark mode, but on an 8+ it is not possible.
If this app google could manage the mail it would install it only for this silly adjustment.
It must be something that is not oled, I don't know, I say!

After reading your comment, I have tested Gmail on an iPhone 6s that I have for tests and when activating the dark mode, Gmail shows the dark interface, so it is not related to the type of screen, be it LCD or OLED.

      Greetings.

      Good Juancho

The application does not have the option to activate or deactivate the dark mode, it is activated if the system has it activated. Google only allows you to disable or enable dark mode in its Android applications. In iOS it does not give the option and integrates it with the system.

      Greetings.
