The HomePod already supports Dolby Atmos and Apple Lossless, this is how it is activated

One of the novelties of the new iOS 15.1 launched a few hours ago was the arrival of Dolby Atmos and Apple Lossless for Apple HomePods. In this sense, the latest version of the operating system allows activating these functions that improve the user experience. This was undoubtedly one of the great novelties of the operating system and now we can activate it on the speakers. An important point to keep in mind is that the activation is done manually, so today we are going to see how we can do it on our speaker.

Update and use the Home app to activate Dolby Atmos and Apple Lossless

Obviously the first thing we have to do to enjoy music without loss and spatial audio is to update our device. This surely we already know how to do it since it is a common process for many users who do not have automatic updates active. In this way what we have to do is open the home application, click on the arrow in the upper left corner and access "Home settings". Once this is done, we select the house in which the HomePod is configured and at the bottom we can see "Software update".

Logically this step is key to be able to use the rest of the functions that are in a somewhat different section. We came in Home Settings and then in one of the user profiles found under People. There we have to access Apple Music and inside we find the Lossless Audio and Dolby Atmos options. Once activated, we have our HomePod ready.

Note that Dolby Atmos is only compatible with the original Home Pod (the big one) for the mini it is only enabled Lossless. And for some strange reason if you connect two Home Pod mini in stereo to an Apple TV it is possible to listen to them in Dolby Atmos. Apple stuff ‍♂️
