The iPhone 14 will bring important improvements in the front camera according to Kuo

Rumors about the improvements in the camera that the iPhone 14 will bring have been constant in recent months. Now it is the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who brings us a new prediction and details about the improvements that the front camera of the iPhone 14 will bring, which after two years with almost no improvements, will have a boost in its quality.

According to Kuo, the rumored four iPhone 14 models (both Pro and non-Pro) will bring with them improved autofocus and larger aperture that will allow to capture a better light and image. The analyst himself indicated it this way on his Twitter account:

The front camera on all four new iPhone 14 models is likely to be upgraded to AF (autofocus) and an aperture of around f/1,9 (vs. FF (fixed focus) and f/2,2 on the iPhone 13). AF support and lower f-number can provide better depth of field effect for selfie/portrait mode. In addition, AF can also enhance the focus effect for FaceTime/video call/live streaming.

These changes would be great for improving selfies or the portrait mode itself with the front camera. Those photos we take of ourselves in low light will have better quality from now on with Apple's improvements. Also the possibilities of a better FaceTime would grow as Kuo himself indicates.

If these rumors were true, surely Apple will put emphasis on FaceTime improvements for iOS 16 so we will have to be very attentive to the next WWDC to see what clues they give us and be able to relate them to these predictions.

These improvements would be accompanied by the new design of the Pro models, where we will leave the notch behind and the screen will be doubly perforated for the FaceID sensor and the iPhone's own camera.

Apple has always lagged behind other brands in its improvements to the front camera of its devices, both in the Mac range and in the iPhone and iPad, but it seems that, with the passage of the pandemic, the growth of video calls and the need to be fully connected from anywhere, start to get the batteries in this aspect. Or so analysts say.
