The cameras of the iPhone 8 are going to improve substantially

We continue with the daily delivery of the new specifications of the next iPhone 8 thanks to the firmware of the HomePod, and now it is the turn to know some interesting details about the cameras of the next Apple smartphone. We already knew, according to all the leaks and models that we have been able to see, that the double camera will go vertically, not like in the current iPhone 7 Plus, and that there will be new features such as 3D for functions such as augmented reality, but now new details unknown until now arrive.

And it is that the Apple speaker has revealed to us that the iPhone 8 cameras will be able to record in 4K quality at 60fps, both the front and the rear, which would be a considerable advance taking into account the current specifications. And not only that, but there will be a special function called "SmartCam" (smart camera) that will choose the best camera mode based on the situation and the subject you are focusing on.

4K recording is available right now on the rear camera of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus at 30fps, while the front camera "only" allows FullHD recordings at 1080p. According to the code extracted from the HomePod firmware, both cameras on the iPhone 8 will be able to record in 4K quality at 60fps. Why would we want a front camera with that recording quality? Maybe Augmented Reality how fashionable it has become since Apple introduced ARKit is to blame for it. What we do not know is the quality of the front camera when capturing photographs, but the jump can also be considerable.

Another of the surprises that Apple would have reserved in iOS 11 for its new iPhone would be the SmartCam function, with which the new phone It would be able to recognize the objects that we are focusing on with our camera and would use the most suitable mode for each situation, according to variables such as light, the objects that surround the scene and the object that is in focus. If it detects a baby, an animal, fireworks or a landscape, it would use, for each of the situations, the most suitable camera settings. To do this, it would make use of an independent chip that would take care of all the «Machine Learning» (machine learning) and would offload the main processor of this work, achieving greater efficiency.

When it was speculated with the iphone 7 it already had to record 4k at 60 fps and nothing at all, there is currently no mobile, not even the very powerful (in terms of camera speed features) sony xz premium that records at these frames , therefore waporware, yes, good waporware….
