Last night the delivery of the Golden Globes (Golden Globes) was held, an awards ceremony that Apple attended by the hand of Tim Cook with three nominations. Unfortunately for Apple not only did not win any of the three awards but also the presenter, Ricky Gervais, was primed with the company.
Gervais stated that Apple uses sweatshops in China to make its products, not without first praising the good work that Apple had done with The Morning Show. But Apple was not the only technology company that was the target of criticism from Gervais, known for his controversial statements.
This last ceremony is giving a lot to talk about, more for the presenter's statements than for the winners of the different categories where Joaquín Phoenix won the best actor award Such and all the pools pointed out for their role in the movie Joker.
Gervais was especially primed with the actors whom he criticized moving only for their economic interests:
So you [celebrities] say you're awake, but the companies you work for, it's amazing, ”he continued. “Apple, Amazon, Disney, if ISIS started a streaming service, it would call its agent, right?
He also claimed that celebrities they live in a bubble and do not know what is going on around them, for which he urged them not to send political messages when they collected the awards:
You don't know anything about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So if you win, go upstairs, take your little prize, thank your agent and your God, and go to hell.
The Morning Show had been nominated for best television drama series, award that fell in the company Succession of HBO. Both Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon were nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series, an award ultimately won by Olivia Colman for The Crown.
The Golden Globes are awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, an organization that represents all journalists covering entertainment news from the United States to other countries and is considered a precursor to the Emmys.
