This is one of those common items in Apple launches with the manufacturing costs of an iPhone compared to the previous model. Well, in this case Apple's new iPhone 13 Pro models are more expensive to make than the iPhone 12 Pro and even some competing models as is the case with Samsung's top of the range, the Galaxy S21 +.
The report is not official from Apple was shared by TechInsights It clearly shows the price difference between last year's model and this year's. Something that for many of us is still just another piece of news, for Apple it is an "extra effort" when it comes to placing the final price on the device. We are clear that they make a profit but if you increase manufacturing costs obviously you get less margin for the product and Apple is not an NGO as we always say, it is a company that wants to make money.
The iPhone 13 Pro are the most expensive to make to date
Compared to previous Apple models, we see that the difference from the iPhone 13 Pro to the 12 Pro is about $ 21.. Then the manufacturing cost of the new Samsung Galaxy S21 + is far below as indicated by this top graph obtained directly from Tech Insights.
On the other hand we can see in the report the causes of this increase in the price and among them logically stand out the new SoC Apple A15, the new screen systems with the refresh rate, the improvements in the chassis and the new NAND Flash memory, among other new features implemented in this new iPhone 13 Pro. The report shows the manufacturing cost of the iPhone 13 Pro in its 256 GB version and at these costs those of R&D are not logically added, transportation, marketing and the like.
