Apple wants its streaming music service, which will turn its first two years next Friday, to become the music service of choice for everyone, both iOS and Android users, and for this it strives to improve it continuously, both with new content and with new services and personalized playlists such as the one that is already beginning to “appear” on the devices of some users.
During the last days, Some of the Apple Music subscribers have begun to see a new playlist appear in the "For you" tab of the application called "My Chill Mix" And apparently, it would not be an exclusive addition to iOS 11, but it would also be seen on devices with iOS 10.
More music to your liking on Apple Music
From what we can see from the screenshots that have already been shared, the new custom playlist does not include a description yet as if it happens with the playlists "My Favorites Mix" and "My New Music Mix", however some users who have already been listening to it have reported on Reddit the type of music it includes. And to understand it, nothing better than to establish a comparison with the personalized playlists that the Apple Music service already offers.
Currently, the "My Favorites Mix" playlist (which is updated every Wednesday) offers subscribers a list of the songs they listen to the most, while the "My New Music Mix" playlist (which is updated every Friday) recommends a series of music that matches the user's listening tastes, but with the criteria that it is music that is newly released on Apple Music.
What is the new “My Chill Mix” list?
Well, based on the idea of these two previous lists, the new playlist “My Chill Mix” is quite similar to the “My New Music Mix” list, however, in the latter case the rule that the selected music must meet the criteria of having been released recently disappears. This means that with this new list, subscribers will be able to listen to music that suits their musical tastes (as it is based on their listening history) regardless of whether the songs included are newer or older.
Apparently, the new list "My Chill Mix" would update its contents weekly every Sunday. Some users who hadn't yet seen the playlist in their Music app have asked Siri to play it by saying, “Siri, play My Chill Mix,” and some have found this to work. The Cupertino company itself has described the new custom music playlist "My Chill Mix" as follows: "Adapted to your musical tastes, My Chill Mix is a selection of songs to help you relax".
The origins of "My Chill Mix"
This new playlist first appeared on the watchOS 4 preview page after the celebration of the Worldwide Developer Congress in early June, as one of the playlists that will automatically sync with Apple Watch. But after this "slip", all mention of the playlist "My Chill Mix" was removed from the company's website.
The playlists "My New Music Mix" and "My Favorites Mix" originally appeared in the iOS 10 public beta last September, a few months after WWDC 2016, at which time Apple officially announced the next arrival of these playlists of musical content personalized to the tastes and habits of each user.
