The new Siri Remote is compatible with the 5th generation Apple TV

Siri Remote

We had been talking for many months about the renewal of the Apple TV, a device whose last revision was in 2017 in which Apple introduced support for 4K video. The rumors that pointed to this renewal, also pointed out that Apple was working on a new remote for the Apple TV.

At the event that Apple presented yesterday, the Cupertino-based company presented this renewal, a renewal that maintains the same aesthetics of the previous generation, but that receives a new Siri Remote, completely remodeled. This new remote is compatible with the 4th generation Apple TV 5K that Apple has stopped selling.

Yes. The logical step that many users expected would go through stop selling Apple TV HD, the model that Apple launched in 2015 that was the first to have access to an app store and maintain the model that it launched in 2017.

However, it has not been like that. At Apple they have decided keep the price of Apple TV HD at 159 euros, include the new Siri Remote and offer only one storage capacity: 32 GB.

The new Apple TV 4K, in its 32 GB version, is priced at 199 euros, so clearly, even if you do not currently have a 4K television, it is worth spending 40 euros more as an investment for the future.

But, if you do not plan to renew the Apple TV 4K that you currently have, you can only buy the new Siri Remote independently, since, just as it is compatible with the 4th generation of Apple TV, it is also compatible with the 5th generation.

The Siri Remote is priced at 65 euros, a command that introduces a tactile clickpad with which we can select lists, go through playlists and move our finger along the outer ring to quickly reach the scene that interests us the most.

By the way, the Apple Store still sells the Apple Remote for the 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV, but not the model that came from the hand of the 4th generation Apple TV, a model that was not to the liking of many users, forcing the Cupertino-based company to renew it.
