Shortly after launching the final version of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, in addition to tvOS 15 and watchOS 8, the Cupertino-based company has launched the first beta of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, a first beta that marks the return of the function SharePlay after disappearing in the last betas before the final version.
Apple added this feature with the release of iOS 15 Beta 2 in June. However, in August it removed it and announced that this new functionality, would not be available with the release of the final version of iOS 15, like other functions that have been falling along the way (something quite common in recent years).
As we can read on the Apple developer page:
SharePlay has been re-enabled in the iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, and tvOS 15.1 betas, and the SharePlay Developer Profile is no longer required. To further develop SharePlay support in your macOS applications, upgrade to macOS Monterey beta 7 and install this new development profile.
Apple announced this new feature as one of the main features of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 at WWDC 2021 last June. This feature allows users to watch movies and TV shows in sync via FaceTime, collaborate on Apple Music playlists, share your screens, and more.
That Apple has included this functionality again does not mean it will be released with the next iOS update, since it is likely that the next betas will delete it again. We will have to wait for the evolution of the betas to see when this new functionality will be released, hopefully sooner rather than later.
