The SHSH of iOS 6 saved in Cydia do not serve to do donwgrade

Icon0TutorialSHSH Tutorial: what are SHSHs and what are they for?

In the comments of our blog we are talking about a problem lately, and that is that unsuspecting users have used their iOS 6 SHSH saved in Cydia to downgrade on their pre-A4 device they have found it impossible to do so.

Remember devices prior to iPhone 4 (this included) can download iOS freely as long as they have the SHSH of the version they want to be saved to. There are two ways to save SHSH: through the program TinyUmbrella, that saves them locally on your computer or sends them to the servers of Cydia or automatically, Cydia will save a copy automatically.

The Cydia option is the least secure, Cydia assures us to save a useful version of SHSH for each iOS, that is, it may happen that it saves us an SHSH from iOS 6.0.1 and does not save us more than iOS 6, the same with each version of iOS.

Also for a long time the SHSH of iOS are not enough, AP tickets are required too, since Apple introduced another complication in iOS 5 to make the downgrade more difficult. This is not a problem because the AP tickets have been automatically saved in Cydia or with TinyUmbrella as part of the same file.

The problem arises now, apparently Cydia has saved the SHSH of iOS 6, but not the AP tickets, so if you want to downgrade from iOS 6.X to iOS 6.X You must have the SHSH saved through TinyumbrellaIf you trusted Cydia to save them, you will not be able to do so, the SHSH that Cydia has saved are incomplete.

That's why many people with pre-A4 devices failed to downgrade recently, they trusted their SHSHs saved in Cydia and it turns out they are useless. If you have them saved on your computer through TinyUmbrella, no problem, you can downgrade.

Remember that you can't downgrade to iPhone 4S or 5 because none of them have hardware-level exploits. That is, the SHSH of the iPhone 4S or 5 right now are useless. In any case, it is good to keep them in case they have some use one day.

If you want to read more information about what exactly is an SHSH and what it is for you can do it here.

One doubt I have an iphone 4 and made the tether jailbreak in ios 6.0 / 6.0.1 / 6.1 / 6.1.2 and then I untethered with ios 6.1.2 and being in ios 6.1.2 remove the shsh of all the previous ios 6 That means that I will not be able to download to another version of ios 6 or yes

    1.    David Vaz Guijarro said

How did you get them? If it was with Tinyumbrella yes you can…. and if it's from Cydia too, but your iPhone will stay in Soft DFU mode

The problem is that being on ios 6.0 / 6.0.1 / 6.1 I did not get them with tinyumbrella it was when I updated to ios 6.1.2 when I got the shsh

If you got the SHSH from iOS 6.1.2 with tinyumbrella if you can download to that version 😉 if you have 6.1.2 now installed with jailbreak you can get it with iFaith 😉

      Good afternoon:
Check the shsh with ifaith 1.5.6
They already tell you if they are valid or not.
      All the best

So the shsh that I have of the iPhone 5 does not work to reinstall the iOS version that I have installed?

    1.    David Vaz Guijarro said

No, they do not work, because with corrupt and why cannot be downgraded, not even that they were good.
The vulnerability that was used to restore from 5.1.1 to 5.X is closed, as is the one from 5.1.1 to 5.1.1, closed as well.

    1.    nosy said

Ok, you have to use iFaith to extract aptickets and shsh.
      Salu2!

They have listened to me! THANK YOU FOR INFORMING THE VISITORS !!!! 🙂

  6.   David Vaz Guijarro said

I find several errors in the post.

They are APTickets and not AP tickets.
The SHSH of cydia can be used to downgrade, as long as you have saved and sent them, and they were not automatically saved by Cydia when jailbreaking.

    Greetings 😉

For now, for those of us who have an iphone 3gs / 4 or ipod 4 with jailbreak in 6.1.2, and we have the need to reinstall 6.1.2, we can still recover the SHSH along with the tikect appt using ifaith or redsn0w.

hello, I have the same circumstances you mention, but I have the problem of constant restart of my 3gs, and to restart it I have to connect to my mac; and they tell me that I must erase and install everything again to correct or worst case change battery. How can I make the cell free?

        Hmm, when did you jailbreak? .. Evasi0n? : S

    Good afternoon:

Shsh can now be verified with ifatith 1.5.6. You have it on the creator's website. Do as if you were going to create a custom with the shsh (first ifaith option), then a blue box will appear, to find the shsh, click on it and search your pc where you have the shsh. And select and accept on the shsh, which you want to verify. And the program itself will tell you with a pop-up window if it is valid or not; in other words, if it has the shsh and the APTickets. What I could not test and if it also verifies for shsh of devices such as iphone 4s, iphone 5, and others that do not have hadrware exploit. Remember that customs can only be created for devices like 3g, 3GS; 4 (since they have hardware-level exploits). Ipad 2, and others that I already mentioned above, can not be used or put back an ios that apple does not sign. But maybe they'll get something out, like they did with redsn0w for the 4s in 5.1.1. So patience
    All the best

I forgot, sorry for answering myself, but I don't know how to edit my previous answer. Also with ifaith 1.5.5 and 1.5.6; You can save the shsh from 6.1.3 (here if it is valid for all devices). It is done with the third option, with the device connected or with the ecid. And if not, you can only save the current shsh with redsn0w, the latest version, downloading the ios to your pc or mac, and in extras, shsh, new.
      All the best
