The new operating system for iDevices, iOS 11, is officially among us. There are many new features but one of the most interesting is the new application Archives from which we can manage our iCloud Drive files and other storage clouds, all from a native application in iOS 11.
One of the interesting features that Files has is the possibility of share documents with different people, just like other storage clouds allow it. In this article we will show you all the ins and outs of sharing the different files that can be found in this new app.
First things first: How to share files in iOS 11
Files is a very effective document manager, especially on the iPad, thanks to the latest functions included by Apple in iOS 11. In the case of the iPad, with the tool drag and drop we can perform multiple actions in less time. Sharing files is very simple, we just have to follow the following steps.
- First find the file you want to share. Then press a little on it and release your finger from the screen.
- Once pressed, a series of elements will be displayed at the top, you have to select Share.
- Within the share menu we have different options: share it by AirDrop, by message and depending on the apps you have installed, you can share them through those apps. Press a Add people.
- To send the invitation to access the document, we will also have several ways: by means of messages, a tweet, an email ...
Who can see the documents you have shared?
Once a certain document has been shared, it is time to decide who can see those files and what privileges they have over the original; that is, determine who can access the file, who cannot, and what are the editing privileges of each person who has access to the shared document.
If we access the Share menu in the same way as in the upper part. If we click on Add People, at the bottom of the menu there is a tab that says Sharing options. If we click we can see that we have two elements:
- Who has access: We can decide who has access to the document: if only the people we invite or everyone who has the link (which can be shared through the invitation that we have sent to a person).
- Excuse me: Do you want to let everyone edit the document? Then select "can make changes", otherwise select read only.
What I have not found that you put, or I have not seen the option to share, is that what you share can only be seen / edited between iCloud users
