The useful life of the Apple Watch, a problem when buying it

apple-watch

The Apple Watch is causing doubts for many of us when deciding whether to buy it or not. It is a new product, of which we know relatively little and that we do not know if we are going to be able to get it useful in our day to day. And this is something that we like to be clear about before spending a significant amount of money, even more so on a product as personal as the watch.

As if that were not enough, to this is added that we do not know how long the renewal cycle of this device will be. With the iPhones, iPads, and Macs (not with the neglected Apple TV) we do know when we will be able to see a new model and estimate the useful life that it will have, but with the Apple Watch we are completely unaware of this and when the current model will undergo a renewal.

The logical thing would be to think of seeing a renewal every two years, more or less. However, nobody assures us that we do not see a Watch Apple 2 at the next event in September. This would not be a problem if it were a smartphone or tablet, but it is not. When we buy a watch we don't think about renewing it every year, so why should we do it with this one?

Luckily for us, the resale market always treats Apple products very well, so we always have the advantage of knowing that, in case a new model comes out and we want to buy it, we will be able to sell our Apple Watch to a price not far from what it originally cost us.

And you, do you already have your Apple Watch?

I want to have the Apple Watch but I currently have an iPhone 4S but my question is:

As soon as I receive the apple watch, can I use it without connecting it to the iPhone? I mean, could I activate it without the iPhone?

I would like someone to solve this big question I have, thank you.

with a 4s you are going to do well… it's not useful! you need a minimum of 5. read on the apple page.

You cannot activate it with the 4S, you will have to find a friend with a 5 or higher to stop being a paperweight

I agree, 5ATM is the minimum you ask of a watch. Surely we are going to see a drop-in delivery, I wait to see the native applications working since for now what there is, everyone says that it is green green.
In part this reminds me of when I bought the iPad 1, it was rendered useless in no time. The ipad 2 still works without problems and continues to have updates.

It is definitely necessary to link it with the iPhone (from 5s) to be able to access the corresponding functions of the phone, it can be used without linking, Physical activity, heart rate and of course the watch.

Hello, seeing how the Apple Store in Barcelona is full of people still shopping today, after a few days after the launch, I will not buy it. And most were NOT the SPORT model. So I think that Apple as soon as it sees the financial results, we would not hesitate for a moment to almost ensure that we will see Watch2 next year. Guys, this is a business, and you have proof of it with the rest of the devices, year after year they are renewed and more than one would not be necessary. Or is it that from an iPhone 6 to a 6S there will be such a spectacular difference that the 6 is obsolete? I said, many times I have been a fanboy wanting everything and the first, but with the watch I will wait until next year they present us with a more attractive Watch2 and who knows more justifiable in relation to functionality / price. With this 1st version, I have not seen the device I was expecting in person. Greetings!

Tomorrow I am finally going to pick up my black Apple Watch sport with a black strap, I am going to see if it was really worth spending 469 euros… I have seen many revieja videos that explain everything, and at the moment I really like it !! !

I will wait for the Watch2 since I consider that what they will include is facetime, this version (1a) was Apple's risk to see if it could compete with the rest of watches and apparently it has not done badly, so it did not He put so much news on the phone, so I'd better wait for 2

It has hardly been put on sale in Spain and some are thinking of 2nd Generations ... I've been with mine for a couple of weeks and the truth is that I'm very happy. In my case, it does everything I want and some other things, such as being able to make, answer a call from the clock, receive, answer messages, Telegram already works at 1.000 wonders you can answer from the clock, calendar, reminders, let's go for me this very complete. And we still need to receive the new update, if in my opinion its price should be about € 100 less.

We think about 2nd generations, because the watch does not cost us € 200 like Apple workers. Neither the latter nor does it reward its customers who trust first generations, nor do they apply an attractive discount to us when renewing, for all this I think and think. 🙂 And because to date I have already read a few articles about the second generation that will most likely arrive in less than a year. Because the clock has been out for months, although here in Spain it's only been days. It is normal that there are opinions of all kinds. I, I repeat, I wait, I have been doing it for months, it does not come from a few more.

Hello everyone, I will try to be as objective as possible !! I'm from Madrid, I don't know why I want to have my new apples the same day they go on the market. I have read and listened to everything, but I let my instincts carry me and you must so far I have not done badly. As for the article I disagree, when comparing a watch with any wristwatch, it has nothing to do, this Gadget is the King, it is the extension of the iPhone, if you like the iPhone the watch will amplify your choice, it is truly INCREDIBLE in its first version despite having some gaps, but we were not so critical of the first version of iPhone either. I am fully convinced that my Sport version space gray watch will not be the only one that I will have and it motivates me to think that I will always improve year after year, in short it is a permanent evolution that is not bad at all. I can only say that it has exceeded my expectations in my first 48 hours of use, it is amazing!
