These are the cases in which the fingerprint detector will not work on the iPhone 5s

iphone 5s sensor

This week we explained to you in detail in Actualidad iPhone How Touch ID works on the iPhone 5s, the new sensor that allows us to unlock the screen of our phone in just one second by pressing our finger on the home button. What we did not know, until now, is that there are some cases in which Touch ID won't work and thus it will force us to revert to the usual numeric password. Indeed, we will have to have a password stored in case we need to use it.

These are the different cases in which touch ID, the iPhone 5s home button sensor will stop working:

  • Inactivity. If you do not touch the iPhone 5s for 48 hours, Touch ID will stop working automatically and in order to unlock the terminal you will have to use the password you have configured.
  • Restart. When you restart the iPhone, the same: you can only unlock it using the password and not your fingerprints.
  • Wounds. If you have a wound on your finger, such as a scratch, the sensor will most likely not be able to verify your fingerprint. In that case it will be enough to use another finger that you have previously scanned.
  • Others. If your finger is wet, the detector doesn't work.

touch ID It is unique in that it is capable of authenticating the inner layers of the skin and not so much the outer ones. The sensor is capable of scanning your finger quickly at a resolution of 500 ppi.

The iPhone 5s will be the first Apple terminal to incorporate touch ID, but we are convinced that the company's next devices will also begin to integrate it to make them more secure.

More information- Is it worth going from iPhone 5 to iPhone 5s?

Everything is ,,, and above all mobile coverage. And if it is a much worse android, you drop the p… ..

      1.    Area51 said

That is not true, since I have switched to android my P has grown 4 centimeters, it is more vigorous and happy because I do the same but with much less money.

Not the same, that I have the galaxy s4 for work and it is not the same. If you mean to call and send messages, it is okay, but applications and quality of materials are not even close. Also, if you are in this forum it is for something, right?

I have read out there that if you are dead or they cut your finger to unlock it, it does not work either xD

    1.    apple said

Well, yes, it is like touch screens, it needs the current to run there so that blood runs and is alive for the scan, if it is possible to take the finger and with electric shocks and a pumping system that makes it seem alive, maybe maybe work xD

Ha ha ha… the milk… what we lacked, In addition to stealing our cell phone, they cut off our finger… ..

It is obvious that you are not going to leave your iPhone without touching it for 48 hours, and one thing, is the numerical password hackable? It can be avoided as in previous cases and could you go to the home screen with some trick? Because if so, the fingerprint reader is useless, anyone could restart the phone and the numerical password xD. I hope is not like that.

Another thing is that his would be to register the 10 fingers of the hands, it has happened to me many times that I am cooking and I have all the fingers wet except one, the little finger is usually, if you have registered all the fingers you can unlock the mobile with any finger that would be fine

Am I the only one who thinks this finger sensor thing is sheer nonsense?

    1.    Talion said

I think the same, but I think that if there are people who are interested in them well 😉

It's another bullshit that I'm sure Jobs would be against. They say that the data does not come out of the mobile. I really doubt it………. that they have our conversations, data and so on, I don't care much But the prints ………… .. not cool. I am satisfied with the Iphone 5c.

In fact the government already has our fingerprints, if you need to process a passport or a visa, on the application sheet they ask you to put the prints of both hands. Also, anything we touch has our fingerprints. The good thing about this system (if they tell us the truth), is that the fingerprint is not saved, but the fingerprint detection algorithm is saved, which I think is correct for security reasons.

True, but it is not a personal opinion, but of many people, you just have to see the piece fallen in Apple's stock market since the presentation of the new terminals.

            1.    Ekutoru Jaimes said

It is true that Apple shares have fallen, but the stock market is managed at will. It uses speculation to make the value of the shares go up or down.

I have read many forums and specialized pages that if it is true it is not a great innovation, they talk about the good work he did with the 5s. But they agree that there was an error with the 5C and the price that was released on the market.

It is something that will happen as with SIRI, a lot of enthusiasm and attention at the beginning and then it will be left in a coma, almost without use.

    3.    Michael Melendez said

It all depends, I am one of those who type 4 times to unlock the iPhone I am lazy and that is why I have it without a password hehe, much less type 8 times to buy something in the App Store and all that is taken away by the fingerprint detector, I think that nothing is worse

a question off topic someone knows why the pes 12 is not in the app store

What if they cut off my finger? What silly news !!!

Well, I think the opposite of the 14 comments I have read. Iphoneator, talion, isemse etc.
It is the best they could get ... It is an incredible and innovative security system! If you want better continue 10 more years with passwords .. Instead of fingerprint reader .. It's scary! They take something out and now it seems like bullshit .. They should get an iPhone 5s just like the 5 faster and that's it .. And then you would say the opposite.

    1.    Talion said

The fact that it seems good to you does not mean that it has to seem to the rest, I have clearly said that it does not attract my attention, but it seems good to me because of the people who are interested. The same I would prefer a "free" bluetooth rather than a fingerprint detector or a better battery or the possibility of installing the version of iOS that I like the most and not necessarily the newest, but it's just me, there will be others who prefer the reader of footprints and that's fine with me.

      1.    Jose bolado guerrero said

For that we already have airdrop .. Or with jailbreak we can install «airblue sharing» and we will have bluetooch to send files to any terminal of the competition .. I have always had jailbreak and I have never missed the bluetooch .. And the battery lasts little It is clear .. Although the 5s battery is 10% larger and I imagine that with its processor it will hold something more .. And that today .. Any terminal lasts a day of autonomy .. For example the s4 has the double and in the end they last almost the same .. Because it has a much bigger screen .. And you also have to see the space that the iphone has inside .. I think that the batteries are not achieved .. Surely in the future we will have batteries that occupy less and with double the mAh.

I remember you all! Use of the home button equal to breaking .. Equal touch and that you touch only with your finger and it is unlocked that you have to put a password .. All of you who speak later will not say what you are saying in the comments ..

  9.   qualcomm_peru said

Well, for me it is innovative but the question is that I do not believe that they reduce the theft of Apple products .. And why is it with a fingerprint detector ??? .. Well, very simple; Your fingerprint is saved in an encrypted file but apple says they are saved locally and not on apple's servers. That means if you find an iphone or buy a stolen one you will not be able to unlock it in the first instance but then you can restore itunes and it will then blank as d manufactures that implies that you will have the option to reconfigure the new footprints of the end user

    The pros and cons

The pro is that it is innovative and with security of the first instance

The cons is that formatting the iphone remains the same to be able to use as an ipod x at least

    The ideal

It is because the encrypted files will be hosted on apple servers and locally and they will update constantly so when the iphone does not have an internet connection, it can use the local file

    The cons

It is because if they are stored on apple servers they can be easily attacked as it is a type of vital information of your identity and users are from celebrity presidents and even terrorists who knows ... And making this file very important could endanger anyone

Summarizing this interesting, your proposal that unfortunately cannot be squeezed 100% and not x now but x always hope you like the comment greetings from PERU

That option with iOS 7 to restore without authorization, is from the past, it will not be possible, unless you know your password.

      1.    qualcomm_peru said

Mmm interesting, actually I have not tried ios 7 yet and if so, well, one more point in favor ...

      2.    Abraham said

I discovered that if you put your idevice in DFU, in an old version of itunes and restore with "shift" looking for the ipsw, you jump that security wall.

I love it, there will be people who seem 'silly' but for those of us who enjoy the iPhone experience this undoubtedly gives us more to facilitate and enjoy the use of our equipment.

One question on rebooting is when will the device need to be formatted or every time you turn it off and on?

Have and if one is diabetic as in my case and I prick my finger every day, will I recognize the footprint ????
