This is how you put the battery percentage in an iPhone 3GS (criticism of Apple included)

Actualización: In Cydia you have the "Show Battery Percentage" package, which enables the button on any iPhone. Thanks for putting it in the comments!

Added: As we have discussed in the comments, it seems that most of you come by default on the iPhone 3G too ... but without the option to remove it, which if it comes on the iPhone 3GS. As for my case, it gives me that it is because of the Jailbreak and all the installations that I did by default before creating the Custom Firmware ...

This is precisely what I like least about Apple, and I'm not anti-nothing because right now I'm writing to you from a Mac and it's one of the best buying decisions of my life. But I can't stand them doing stupid things like the one they did with the battery percentage. That is, why does Apple only allow to show the battery percentage in the iPhone 3GS?

Y It is not worth it for me that it is a hardware reason because with SBSettings it is shown in a jiffy on any iPhone or on an iPod Touch. The sad thing is that they renounce so much of the jailbreak when they themselves do not know how to treat at least their own buyers, at least in this case.

Ultimately, Those of you who want to put the battery percentage and have an iPhone 3GS, in the video you can see how easy it is. Those who do not have a 3GS, to pull SBSettings and that's it. And before the rain of comments, say that I still believe that Apple is the best technology company, the iPhone the best mobile, the iPod Touch the best player and Macs the best computers, and since I take a run, I am the best editor of the world blogosphere applera ... or maybe not.

Well, man, I'm going to edit but the truth is that this is a bit curious that one thing happens to each of us.

  2.   Carlinhos said

Satgi, but now you can deactivate it like the one you do in the 3GS in the video?

  3.   Carlinhos said

Okay, it is becoming clearer. I also leave the information that in the iPod Touch 1G that I have here to make tests and have it at home, it does not even give the option, but with SB Settings it is activated and deactivated.

  4.   gabo said

Well I don't know what with your iPhone but I have the iPhone 2G update to FW 3 and if you put the battery% ... clarify that I DO NOT HAVE INSTALLED SBSetings or anything for the sake

  5.   satgi said

I join Gabo I have an iPhone 3G and after updating to 3.0 I get the battery percentage next to the battery icon and it turns red when it is critical ……
Say that in settings no option appears to deactivate it… ..

  6.   wingeek said

The same thing happens to me but with an iPhone 3G, when I updated to 3.0 it changed me and since then I have both the percentage and the little icon, and I have not done the jailbreak yet, so ...

  7.   satgi said

EDIT: I just did the Jailbreak and it follows the percentage and the icon 🙂

  8.   wingeek said

This is what I have with my 3G, and without Jailbreak yet, as already said atgi, it turns red from 20% and has no option to be deactivated.

  10.   caxocarne said

Well, I got the percentage when I updated it to 3.0 but when later I synchronized it with iTunes to put music in it, xDDDD mysteriously disappeared and in settings it also disappeared….

Anyway, it seems an offense to all users that we have made it possible for Apple to earn millions and millions of dollars ...
And that nobody comes telling me that it is something typical of Apple that I do because I stamp my white macbook in the face xD

  11.   wingeek said

No, I just did it and it still won't let me disable it.

  12.   satgi said

    nope, no deactivation option appears

Although the truth does not displease me 😛

  13.   t4bLeT said

Well, I updated to 3.0, I have not done the jail yet and I do not get any percentage.
Prior to 3.0 it had the jail. As data?
    Any idea?

  14.   adrian said

Damn if you go to cydia there is an application that places you in general> I use the icon to show or not show the battery ... just search a little in cydia ...

  15.   satgi said

go go to update cydia tells me:
internal error, not perform immediate configuration (2) on essential…. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck, and tried to do the jailbreak again and nothing remains the same, what do I have to restore again and try again? pffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

From cydia you will find the file that with just installing the percentage will come out, but if someone did not find it here this:

    Instructions

    1. We access the iPHone by SSH.
    2. Let's go to the path /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app
    3. We make a backup copy of the M68AP.plist file. Once done we use this website to convert the file.
    4. Once converted and downloaded back to the computer, we open it with any text editor.
    5. We look for the lines:

    device-name
    iPhone
    6. and below we add:

    gas-gauge-battery

    7. With this we will activate the battery button in%. To test the interface of the camera we continue.
    8. We look for the lines:

    unified ipod

    9. and below we add:

    video-camera

    10. We save the file and upload it back to the original path.
    11. We restart the iPhone and when we turn it on we should have the news.

    * In Settings / General / use, the% button will appear (it is possible that if we had made the modification that I published a while ago to see the%, the button will not do anything).
    * If we open the camera, we will see the new button to switch between video and photo mode. It is normal that you go very slow, the button does not react until a while. With this activated, the camera does not work (neither photos nor video), so it is simply as a curiosity and test.

Completely agree with the review. It is too limiting that they do not allow to show something as simple as the percentage of the battery in the rest of the iPhones.

Will anyone read my comments ????

    Hello????

With a small download in cydia you can activate the button that has the 3gs in the iphone, and if not follow what I have put 1 comment above !!!!!!!

  19.   odalie said

Those who get the battery percentage with OS 3.0, it will be because they updated and when updating they would keep the battery percentage that appeared with OS 2.2.1

I restored (did not update) my iPhone 3G to OS 3.0 and not a trace of anything related to the battery percentage ...

What I did was extract the General.plist, pass it to .xml and modify it to be able to show the percentages of: battery, wifi and coverage. Then I made the file binary again and replaced it via SSH.

The option that adrian has posted is just as valid.

Hello, I also have a 3G updated to 3.0 without jailbreak and the percentage of the battery has never come out and in settings neither any button like the video, so I will continue with the freememory. One more contribution. All the best.

Good morning everyone. Well, in my case it did not appear until I restored a backup in iTunes, where previously it had both the percentage and the name of the company changed. In the case of now, having version 3.0, the percentage appears next to the battery icon. And I already said that I only had to restore backup in iTunes.

  27.   yeremi said

Hey Ferchu, I'm looking for what you say through cydia and I can't find it ... could you tell me what is the repo that provides that of the show battery percentage? Thanks

  28.   gabo said

Well, I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but in my process I downloaded the FW 3 from Apple's official website and gave it to update and everything went well for my iPhone 2G

  29.   ferchu said

Yeremi, the repo that you have to add is the same that you use for mobileinstalation, that is, it helps you install cracked apps.
    It is the following http://iphone.org.hk/apt
    1. Mobile Installation Patch
    2.Show Battery Percentage
I hope it has served you, when in doubt send me an email
    Regards!

  30.   yeremi said

Thank you very much Ferchu, it is already done. To say that when I installed the first firmware 3.0 that was leaked, the percentage of the battery also came out, although later with the redsnow and such, it was removed. Thanks a lot

    you're welcome yeremi.
Any questions you have about the iphone tell me.
