Touch to turn on and no Touch ID on screen, the HomePod keeps giving clues

Apple's speaker, or rather, its built-in software, is proving to be an invaluable source of news about the iPhone 8. Without ever having debuted in stores, The HomePod is becoming the summer star in its own right when it comes to leaks, and Troughton-Smith is taking the opportunity that Apple has unwittingly given him, squeezing the most out of the software code.

The new discoveries include mentions about the iPhone 8 screen and the status bar, about the absence of the Touch ID sensor integrated under the screen, and on a new function that will incorporate the iPhone 8 which will consist of touching the screen of the device to turn it on, similar to what other mobiles such as Nokia Lumia already bring. No trace of Touch ID

Everything continues to indicate that Touch ID will disappear from iPhone 8. Yesterday it was this same source who spoke of facial recognition combined with an infrared camera and a 3D sensor for unlocking the device or for identification when making payments or opening Applications. Troughton-Smith has found absolutely nothing that refers to a Touch ID sensor integrated under the display. With no space on the front to place it, without references to the fact that they have chosen to integrate it under the screen, and it being almost ruled out that it is located on the back, the only thing that remains is that the Touch ID will probably disappear in this generation of iPhone , at least.

Split status bar

The designers had already intuited this new feature as soon as the first images appeared with the supposed design of the new iPhone. the upper slit that the screen for the camera, speaker and sensors must have, would cause the screen to be divided in that part in two, and Apple could take advantage of it to place a status bar in two parts. So it seems that things will be and not only will it be divided, but it seems that even Apple will provide some possibility of interaction with the status bar.

Virtual start button

Apple would abandon the term "home button" for the "home indicator" which would be a virtual button located on the screen that would do the function that we have done so far with the physical button characteristic of the iPhone. This indicator would be located in the classic place, at the bottom of the screen, but it could disappear when not necessary, such as in applications or when multimedia content is being played, to achieve a true full screen.

The absence of a physical home button will mean that to turn on the screen you will necessarily have to use the unlock button on the right side of the iPhone, or lift it as now happens with the latest models, and thus when it detects movement, the iPhone automatically turns on its screen. What happens if it is on a table and we want to see the time or the latest notifications? To avoid having to pick up the iPhone, Apple could incorporate the function of hitting the screen a couple of times to make it turn on, as some Lumia phones already incorporated, and this is indicated by some references in the HomePod firmware.
