Tips and tricks for when Candy Crush won't load

Candy Crush does not load

Do you know the Candy Crush? Surely some of you are thinking "what a silly question", right? That is precisely why I do it, because it is such a famous game that it needs no introduction. But that an application or game is very famous does not guarantee that it will be free of bugs. A failure not very widespread but that affects some users of this famous title of breaking candy is one that prevents the game from loading and enter the main menu or it just closes as soon as you try to open it.

As we have just mentioned, although Candy Crush is one of the most successful games in the App Store and other application stores, we are talking about an application like any other. This means that, unless the game has a problem in its code that has arrived after an update, much of what we will have to do to solve the problem that prevents it from loading is the same as we would if the problem were given to us by someone else application or game. Here are several solutions that could allow you to play this smash hit by King again.

Candy Crush closes for me as soon as I open it. What I do?

The answer to this question will depend on what has happened in the last hours.

  • Has Candy Crush been updated? Although updates are usually released to fix bugs, sometimes something else ends up messing around. If our problems have started as soon as we install a game update, the first thing we can think of is that the new version has arrived with a bug that, at least, affects us.
  • Have we updated iOS? Although any developer of any operating system tries to make new versions work just as well as previous versions, they do not always succeed. That we experience crashes after an iOS update is not so strange.
  • Do we have jailbreak and we have installed a tweak that may cause a conflict? Being for or against the jailbreak is everyone's decision, but one thing is clear: the jailbreak exists because it allows us to make modifications that Apple does not allow us with the original software. Many of these modifications are not allowed because they can cause instability in the system, so it should not surprise us if Candy Crush begins to fail us if we install a tweak of doubtful origin or from a not very skilled developer.

Almost any change in the software can cause conflicts, but since we can't guess where the problem is, here are several solutions listed in order of use that you have to try.

What to do if I can't get into the Candy Crush

Force a reboot

Force restart

We must always keep this solution in mind. People say that forcing a reboot fixes about 80% of small problems software, which is why I put it first, mostly because it is the fastest solution. We will force a restart by pressing the power button + home button (or volume down on the iPhone 7 / Plus) until we see the apple.

Reinstall the game

With a normal Wi-Fi connection, reinstalling an app can be a matter of seconds. If forcing a reboot hasn't fixed our problem, the next thing we can try is to reinstall Candy Crush. To do this, it is enough that we follow these steps:

  1. We touch and hold on the Candy Crush icon on the home screen. Be careful if you have an iPhone 6s or later because the icons will not start to shake if we press too hard.
  2. When the icons start to shake, we tap on the X that will appear near the Candy Crush icon.
  3. We confirm the removal of the game.
  4. Now we open the App Store.
  5. We search for "Candy Crush" and touch on the exact result of the game.
  6. Finally, we tap on the cloud icon with the down arrow to reinstall the game.

Make sure you are connected to the Internet

iPhone 6 Wi-Fi

Some games can present problems if we do not have a good Internet connection. And not just some games; in fact, the App Store can also give us problems downloading any application if our connection is poor, asking us again and again for our Apple ID password. What I usually do whenever I have suspicions that my connection has dropped or its quality has dropped is to use the application Speedtest by Ookla. All we have to do is install the application, tap on "Start test" and wait for the results. If we see that the marker is practically not moving, we can think that the Candy Crush is having problems because our connection is very poor. The solution to this will depend on the Internet service contracted by each user. Though a solution may be to disconnect from Wi-Fi so that our iPhone connects to the Internet through our data plan.

Update iOS and Candy Crush

IOS 10.0.3 update

If none of the above has worked, the next step we should do is what any developer recommends: use the latest version.

  • To check if we have any pending iOS update we will go to the Settings / General / Software update app. If there is any, we install it.
  • To check if we have any pending Candy Crush update, just open the App Store and tap on the "Updates" tab. Although this may not be enough and the App Store may not show us a pending update directly, so I recommend tapping on the updates tab icon about 10 times very quickly. So we will refresh the App Store, it will reload and, if there is an update, it will show it to us.

None of this has worked. What else can I do?

Well, if none of the comments in this post has worked, I would recommend being patient and waiting for news. If the bug is relatively widespread, specialized blogs will find out, spread it and, at a minimum, the developer will find out and try to fix the bug. Another thing we can do is restore iPhone or iPad but, although it may be the solution, it is not the most common and may not be worth it.

Has any of the tips that we have exposed in this post worked for you?
