This week has been an important week for Twitter, since ten years after its launch, the 140 character limit that characterized the platform has been extended to 280, allowing more content to be published in each tweet. But it has not been the only change we have seen in the microblogging platform, since in addition, the number of characters that we have at our disposal to write our name with the surnames or the full name of a company, since until now we had to adjust the name to the limit imposed by the platform.
Starting today, your Twitter display name can be up to 50 characters in length! Go ahead, add that middle name or even a few more emojis. https://t.co/QBxx9Hnn1j

In this way, companies or users whose name is longer than usual can now use a greater number of characters. We can also use it to add emojis or special characters to personalize the name of our profile. This change does not affect the username, a name that begins with the at sign, but only affects the name of our account, the name that identifies us as a person or as a company. The nickname or nickname that we use on Twitter, name preceded by the at sign, it will still be a maximum of 15 characters.
In order to change our username, we must go to our account and click on Profile to edit it and change both the username and the name of our profile if necessary. Keep in mind that Twitter does not put any limitation in this sense, so we can change it the number of times we want.
At the moment, both the Tweetbot and Twitterrific applications have already been updated adding support for the new number of characters that the platform has expanded this week, as I mentioned at the beginning of this article. Nevertheless, the native application did not need to release an update to add this compatibility.
