Twitterrific hits version 6 with autoplay, new themes, new business model and more

Twitterrific 6

In a move that Twitter was planning to make sooner or later, Jack Dorsey's company removed a large number of functionalities that made third-party applications have their own niche of users. By removing notifications and other features, using a third-party client makes little sense these days.

Although Tweetbot is one of the most widely used Twitter applications in the iOS ecosystem, it is not the only one. The other big one is called Twitterrific, an application that has just reached version 6 with a large number of new features and a new monetization system based on subscriptions, although it does not prevent us from using it if we do not want to pay for a subscription.

Main news of Twitterrific 6

  • Integration with GIPHY, to be able to attach GIFs to our tweets quickly and easily, something that we could not do in previous versions.
  • Automatic playback of both videos and GIFs, practical function that allows you to view your timeline in a very comfortable way, since it does not require us to interact with the screen at any time. The videos are played automatically without sound, a sound that we can activate by clicking on the video.
  • Individual images displayed in a tweet they are shown complete and not cropped, so that we won't have to click on it to see it without cropping.
  • More modern iconography, with all panels with rounded corners
  • Three new application icons.
  • Five new skin themes to customize the user interface.
  • When responding to a tweet, not only will the tweet we quote be shown, but the images, videos or GIFs that we have attached will also be shown (one of the last functions that the official application released).

Twitterrific 6 monetization

Twitterrific is available for download for free. It offers us three subscription options, as long as we do not want to see the advertising banner that is displayed at the top of the application, a banner that could be a little smaller, but if you get used to it, end up ignoring it and it does not bother.

If you want to collaborate with the developer, you have three options available:

  • € 0,99 / month
  • 10,49 euros / year
  • 32,99 euros in a single payment and we forget to pay forever (same system that Infuse offers us)

Twitterrific 5 was also available for download for free, but had a fixed cost of 4,95 euros if we wanted to unlock all the functions that they offered us. This version received more than 80 updates since it hit the App Store.
