Uber's food delivery service is having more success than the company initially expected. Launched in 2014, this section that is within the official Uber application, allows us to order our lunch or dinner and receive it at home or at work in about 10-20 minutes. In cities like Los Angeles the service works perfectly and it is having a great reception.
Therefore, it is not surprising that Uber wants to grow its business in this department. Toronto residents can now download a standalone app fully dedicated to UberEats. Uber has expanded the selection of restaurants in this city, so users will have the option of exploring a menu with five options (as before) or digging deeper to find more possibilities, in case the person has more time.
Normally, Uber usually offers four or five different options a day, but with the new independent application the users of the service will find a greater variety of restaurants in surrounding areas.
With this strategy, Uber hopes to boost its food delivery service and stands up against another rival that has come to this territory with force: Amazon, which has started offering a similar option for all its Prime customers and has dozens of agreements in each city.
The app will be tested first in the Canadian city and will expand to other territories throughout 2016.
