VLC 3.0 will have Chromecast support

VLC for iOS

El VLC player for iOS little by little it is reaching all the App Store, meanwhile, we already know that soon we will receive an update that Chromecast owners will like.

For those who are not up to date, Chromecast is a simple dongle with HDMI that connects to our television to play streaming content, something similar to Apple TV but from Google. Although we lose some functionalities that the Apple TV does offer, Chromecast is a cheaper product and that is compatible with more than 100 applications from the App Store.

Thanks to VLC version 3.0 for iOS and OS X, we can play our videos using the iPhone, iPad or any Mac as a source.

Moment it is unknown when it will be available said VLC update since the company that develops it, VideoLan, has not provided more information about it.

Since VLC still does not reach the Spanish App Store (it will, you have to be patient), you can get hold of it if you ever downloaded it when it was available. To do this, you just have to go to the Purchases section of the App Store and look for it there. The rest of us will have to continue waiting for their landing to take effect in the rest of the territories. Hopefully it won't take long.

With news like this, it is becoming increasingly clear that Apple TV is in dire need of a makeover to expand your possibilities. In the end, the competition offers very similar products, with greater compatibility and for a lower price.

Thanks for the news Nacho. Regarding the same, do you know if in VLC you can or can order the videos in a folder? I ask you because the last time I tried it on my iPad, I uninstalled it almost immediately due to the lack of that option, for example, it synchronized 100 episodes of a series and when moving them to a folder within the application it ordered them from the last episode to first (instead of doing it the other way around which was what I wanted) which was annoying and I never found an option to change this. Because of this I use Oplayer HD.

I could not confirm the information right now, I do not have the new version of VLC so until it is available, I will not be able to test what you tell me. If I find out something I tell you. All the best!

By the way, already tested the latest version, I can confirm that it does NOT play AC3 (a52) due to licensing issues. This is a huge problem because we already know that most of the content we have on the internet is MKV with AC3
