We have already talked to you about Wave before, it is about an app with which you can locate your friends in real time, share your location with them and help you find them. Now has been updated adding the long-awaited Spanish translation, chats and also becoming compatible with Android, so now you can use it with all your friends.
What really sets Wave apart from other popular location sharing options is its capabilities and privacy. Some may think "if I can share the location with WhatsApp", but it has nothing to do with it, in other apps you share your location on a specific basis, with Wave you share it for a selected period of time; during this period you will see your friend move around the map in real time.
Imagine that you are in a shopping center with your partner and you go to see an Apple store, when you return your partner is no longer where you left it, he has had time to see 40 more stores, and even if he tells you which store he is in now when you get there is probably in another ... The easiest thing is to send a request to start a 15 minute Wave and you will see her move around the mall. This is probably the only easy way you can locate her without asking her 50 times where she is now.
When starting a Wave you choose with how many people you do (you can do groups) and for how long do you want the location to be shared, from 15 minutes to 12 hours. During all that time the people who share that Wave can see you on a map in real time.
A practical example of use could be when you go to the cinema and arrange to pick up 3 friends with your car. Normally you would say to them "this time in this place", or "I'll make a missed call and come down to your door." With Wave this is no longer necessary, you will not have to notify your three friends 3 times. Before leaving home you create a Wave group and your friends will see where you are going in real time, to go to the door at the exact moment you are arriving, without schedules, without waiting and without having to do anything with the phone while driving.
As I have already told you, you could think that this was already being done by Google Latitude or Apple's Find my Friends, but in addition to the fact that Wave is multiplatform (it's on iOS, Android and Windows Phone soon), what really makes the difference is the Privacy. With Wave you share the location the time you want, never indefinitely, no one can use Wave to control you; you can also cancel a Wave whenever you want, stopping sharing the location from that moment.
Also location data is encrypted from user to user, they never go through Wave's servers nor can they be used for anything doubtful (yes, we are comparing Wave with Google Latitude and we are afraid that Google knows where we are at all times).
Another novelty of the last update is the chat, sometimes the location alone is not enough ("hey, bring a can of soda for the cinema, I've forgotten mine at home").
We have tested Wave for a few days sharing the location for 12 hours and we have not noticed excessive battery consumption or resources, as it works in the background the expense it makes is minimal.
Wave is an app for match people in real life, to help you meet the people you love face to face, technology at our service and not the other way around. The uses that each one can give it are infinite, we have only told you the examples that have occurred to us.
