The Camera Connection Kit is an accessory that we may use on rare occasions but it is really very interesting to have for those short trips or to enjoy vacation photos before arriving home.
The one that Apple sells is great but it is clearly too expensive if we are only going to use it rarely, so I decided to opt for the one sold in Dealextreme and the truth is that the results cannot be better.
I have opted for the 6-in-1 Camera Connection Kit that has a USB port and slots to read SD, TF, MS, M2 and MMC memory cards. To switch between the USB port or the card reader we have a small switch located to the right of the Camera Connection Kit.
The first tests have been very successful. I have connected the SD of my compact and the second the photo application included in iOS has jumped to import the photos and videos. I have also connected the iPhone to the USB port and the exact same thing happened.
As I see in the instruction manual, this peripheral also allows you to connect other input devices such as keyboards although I have not been able to test this option.
The only downside so far is that, from time to time, a message pops up saying that this accessory is not compatible with the iPad but this does not affect its operation at all.
All for just over 11 euros (it cost me 7 because I took advantage of Black Friday). Unfortunately, it is currently out of stock although you can place your order and have it sent to you when they receive it again.

Thanks Nacho for this Post, the truth is that I was behind this accessory for my Ipad 2 for a long time, there is the question… in which Ipad did you do the test ??? in the 1 or the 2 ??? See if you can put a 16Gb pendrive in the USB port and through Ifile you can access ... (I did not go with the camera connection kit because I could not power it). Also see if you can connect a disk external hard drive already powered and you can access it from the Ifile… greetings.
It's an iPad 2 (look at the image that comes out with the white frame). I have not been able to test the iFile because I do not have jailbreak since they returned the tablet with iOS 5 pre-installed from the SAT.
The 8GB USB that I have connected precisely because they capped the output power and it does not give enough mA. The 1TB powered hard drive has taken me without problems but I can't do the tests you tell me with iFile because as I told you, I don't have a jailbreak.
If iOS 5.0.1 untethered finally comes out for the iPad 2, I'll come back to this point and do more testing. Greetings!

Well, I don't know the truth ... it works for me without problems. As soon as you insert the memory card, the photos application included in iOS automatically launches and offers you the possibility of importing or deleting the photos. You do not have to do anything, it is an automatic process.
Do you have another iPad to try? Maybe your camera connection kit is broken.
Can movies or similar be played? That is, does it allow you to manage and see with a program what is on the USB or SD to be able to play or simply skip the download of images and videos?
With jailbreak it is possible to use the camera connection kit to explore files and directly play files from other applications. As I do not have jailbreak on the iPad 2, I can not do tests but it is already known that this is possible. Greetings

I have Jailbreak and I can use it to play video and audio as well as review documents thanks to the iFile and XBMC (it is the only one that catches a USB / SD connected to the connector)

The other day also with a commercial 4Gb USB that they had given me. I have not been able to recover it even with low-level formatting. Some programs recognize it as Bad Disk
In both cases the same thing happened to me. I opened the iFile, it detected the disk, I played and browsed through the files to test it, and once I removed it (in a bad way that yes) and the thing was screwed
With other USBs it has not happened to me. I think the best option is to use 16GB cards for example, you prevent the weight from moving the connector and losing the connection
