La instant messaging app most popular is WhatsApp, there is no doubt about that. In recent months the application is receiving great news, some of them in beta mode, such as the possibility of connecting to the app on other devices without having to have the phone next to it. In fact, new features are still being worked on. The latest feature being tested in the iOS beta is the transcription of audio messages, with the aim of being able to access the audio information without having to reproduce it. This feature is still in the early stages of development and it will take months to have it with us.
Transcribing audios within WhatsApp could be a reality in the future
It has happened to all of us. Sometimes we cannot listen to audio messages that are sent to us because we are in a public place without headphones or for any other reason. That may mean missing out on important information that the other party wants us to know. However, to date there is no other option than to listen to the audio to be able to consult what is said in it.
A few hours ago, BetaInfo revealed a new feature that WhatsApp is testing in its beta for iOS. It's about the transcription of audio messages within the application itself. The operation is very simple. The application would pass the audio message through a system capable of listening and transcribing the message. Thanks to the message that is sent from iOS, it is known that Apple's development kits will be used, although Facebook today has a system capable of transcribing messages.
In response to 9to5mac, WhatsApp has issued a statement claiming that this feature is still in the early stages of development and that it will take time to see the feature. In addition, at the time it is launched they ensure that it will be safe:
We are in the early stages of designing and prototyping voicemail transcription. We are a long way from being able to offer this feature, but if we implement it, it will be protected by end-to-end encryption.
