WhatsApp for iOS receives the public beta of multi-device support

IOS WhatsApp multi-device support

WhatsApp continues to be the most used messaging app in the world. Now we can say that it belongs to Meta, the new company created to collect the conglomerate of services of Mark Zuckerberg. For a few months now WhatsApp compatibility with multi-device support was being tested. That is, to be able to use the application on different devices without having to be connected to our main phone. A few hours ago, that beta option became a public beta on iOS and everyone can access it with a few simple steps that we tell you below.

Join the public beta of WhatsApp multi-device support on iOS now

When your devices are paired, your phone will no longer have to stay connected to use WahtsApp on the web, desktop or Portal version. Up to 4 additional devices and 1 phone can be used at the same time.

To access to the public beta of multi-device support just have the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS. Once inside the app, we access the Settings, and then 'Linked devices'. Once inside, we can see which devices have accessed our account through WhatsApp Web. However, a new tab has appeared: «Beta version for various devices». We enter and click on «Join the beta version».

If we access the Beta We can access WhatsApp from any device without having our main phone turned on or connected to the same Wi-Fi network. That is, we can log in to our Mac or Windows if we have forgotten the phone at home, for example.

However, there are still intrinsic WhatsApp functions that are not available on devices added after joining the public beta. These options are:

  • You won't be able to empty or delete chats on paired devices if your primary device is an iPhone.
  • You will not be able to send messages or call contacts who use a very outdated version of WhatsApp on their phones.
  • You will not be able to use tablets.
  • You won't be able to see the real-time location on paired devices.
  • You won't be able to create or view broadcast lists on paired devices.

We will see when the option officially arrives and the way WhatsApp uses to achieve synchronization between all devices, creating complete experiences on all devices.

I have been using this system for more than a month and the truth is that it is luxurious, the only thing that when opening the WhatsApp on the computer takes a little longer than normal, it only shows the last messages sent to the contacts, being able to consult the last days, or a number x of messages, I have not yet started to look if it is one or another condition that lets you see more or fewer messages, the current beta does not let you anchor messages, continue without be able to use the computer to publish states, but for everything else well, you do not have the constant message that the mobile is offline, it is with low battery, what eye, the latter I would keep it, since it can be a help to the Time to charge the phone so you don't run out of battery.
