WhatsApp is updated supporting 3D Touch and quick response

whatsapp-ios-9

The wait is over, although it has been long (let's face it, too long) finally the most widespread mobile messaging service in our area has been updated to offer us all the improvements that Apple introduced months ago in iOS 9, including the long-awaited quick response . WhatsApp 2.12.8, which is the exact version that has just been launched and is now available in the App Store for you to download on your devices, It brings in addition to the quick response to messages from the notifications themselves, the compatibility with the new 3D Touch of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

As we say the update allows you now reply to WhatsApp messages from the notification itself. You will no longer have to wait for WhatsApp to open and enter the corresponding chat. Now you just have to slide down the notification as soon as it reaches you, and a box like the one in the image will appear where you can write your answer and send it directly. The same works from the lock screen: slide the notification to the left and click on Reply, and without having to unlock the device you will be able to reply to the message that has been sent to you. At the moment we do not know for sure but from what our readers tell us this quick response function is only available with iOS 9.1 Beta 5, which, if confirmed, would be really strange.

WhatsApp-Apple-Watch

This quick reply too allows you to answer from the Apple Watch. Although the update does not bring a native application for watchOS 2, the simple fact of being compatible with this feature already allows you that when you receive a notification on your Apple Watch you can use the predefined responses of iOS to respond to WhatsApp messages.

whatsapp-3d-touch

And finally the compatibility with 3D Touch that allows us to use the new function of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus to be able to start a new chat or search for one of those that we already have started from the icon of our springboard, without having to previously open the application.

How excited I was to be able to use Peek & Pop on my new iPhone 6S. I was the only one who did not support this in the links

  3.   Diego said

The quick answer is exclusive to the iphone 6s ?? Because I can't do it on an iphone 6.

    1.    Luis Padilla said

The captures are from a 6 Plus, except for the 3D touch obviously

      1.    Diego said

Thanks for clearing my doubt. Is there an option to activate the quick reply? I updated with ios 9 and it doesn't work for me.

        1.    Luis Padilla said

I don't see any new menu in WhatsApp Settings

          1.    Diego said

What iOS do you have installed?

  4.   Leo said

The quick answer does not work for me iphone 5s, ios 9

  5.   Sebastián said

jolin, it won't let me update…. It happens to someone else?

    1.    Luis Padilla said

You are not the only one, many users complain that they cannot update, be patient.

      1.    Sebastián said

        Thank you Luis.

  6.   Mariano B. said

Apparently the quick answer works only with the new Iphone. From a 6 Plus, with updated WhatsApp it does not let me use the new function ...

  7.   betis1907 said

I have an iPhone 6 Plus and I have the same problem. I have updated it and I still cannot respond from the notifications directly. The new Apple Watch feature is not working for me either. What's more, in the description of the update in the AppStore nothing comes from the quick response or the clock.

    1.    Luis Padilla said

In the description it does not put it but they exist you can see it in the images of the article.

  8.   Anderson Garcia said

It does not allow me to respond from the Apple Watch, and I do not get the quick response on the iPhone 6 Plus either.

  9.   Mariano B. said

Will it be activated with iOS 9.1?

    1.    Luis Padilla said

I don't think so ... I have 9.1, but I don't think it depends on that considering that it is not yet an official version

      1.    Diego said

Taking into account that it is not detailed in the description of the update, it may be that it is a novelty for that version.

      2.    Mariano B. said

From what a WhatsApp beta tester on Twitter just said, it only works on iOS9.1. If so, it makes sense that they didn't include it within the update description.

  18.   luis gonzalez said

I think it is only for ios 9.1 because everyone with ios 9.0.2 does not appear, I have ios 9.1 beta 5 and if the quick answers appear

    1.    Luis Padilla said

From what I'm reading it seems that WhatsApp has only put it for the Beta, it is already the height of nonsense

  19.   pepper said

It doesn't let me update either, and not only that, it doesn't let me connect to the iTunes Store from either the mac or the iPhone. And I have tried it with two different accounts and nothing at all.

    1.    Luis Padilla said

There are bugs with the App Store and with iTunes, confirmed by Apple itself

  20.   Mauricio said

On iphon 5 it works perfectly, ios 9.1 beta 5

  21.   Kari said

WhatsApp updates to quick responses and the AppStore falls? coincidence? .. No !! The end of the ages! haha
PS: if you read the comments this function is only for 9.1, so wait for the official one to come out.

  24.   Yo said

It only works on iOS 9.1, obviously for the betas, since it has not yet come out.

  25.   elpaciEl said

it is clear that it is from iOS 9.1 onwards. To keep waiting

  26.   chiskoruiz said

I had to completely close the app so that the quick response and the 3d touch option would appear

I already update WhatsApp and I have 8.4.1 but I will not update from ios for a few simple notifications I will wait for the jailbreak that I hope will not take long.

He did not let me update either, but within the hour I have succeeded. The quick response does not work for me either on an iphone 6 with ios 9.0.2
    Any ideas or comments?

Why can't I get the update? In the app store I get the description of the new update but in the update section I do not get the app. I have version 2.12.7 when the act is supposed to be 2.12.8 ... What can happen? I have ios 9.1 beta 5

  32.   Borja said

  33.   Retoland said

Quick responses only work with IOS 9.1 betas. While waiting for the official version to come out, you will have to be patient.

The quick answer only works for iOS 9.1 beta 5

  36.   Jose said

In the update of the AppStore .. I do not have a quick answer, therefore I do not know who invented it.

    1.    Luis Padilla said

Nobody has invented it, you can see the screenshots of the article in which it is clearly seen what is said in it.

  37.   MBerries said

It is updated again to version 2.12.9

  38.   Christian said

It is useless to have updated to iOS 9.1 because although if the quick response works it is necessary to activate the preview and thus everyone sees your messages on the locked screen.

  39.   Angel said

It has been updated to 2.12.9. Do you know if you have the quick answer with this?

  40.   Juan said

Excuse my ignorance but I see that everyone says Beta. But what is Beta?

    1.    Paul Aparicio said

      Hello John:

Alpha version: trial version that only the developer uses and a few chosen ones from their environment.
Beta version: trial version that more people use, no longer just the developer's circle.
On iOS there is also a public beta, which is a normal beta version, but at a more advanced point.
Final version: everyone has access and it is the first officially stable version.

      A greeting.
