With iOS 8.3 we can use Siri to make calls with the speaker

Siri-iOS8.3

Siri is one of those things that gets better little by little with each new version of the system that is released, and with iOS 8.3 it was not going to be an exception. The apple virtual assistant is increasingly complete, precise and functional, making the user experience with it radically improved since its first versions.

With iOS 8 we saw a feature included that caught our attention, and that was probably part of the test of what Siri will be in it. Apple Watch. I'm talking about the "Hey Siri" function by means of which we can "wake it up" without touching the iPhone, as long as we have it connected to the power through the Lightning cable since, otherwise, being always listening would drain excessively the drums.

This function is especially useful if we do not have the phone by our side or if our hands are full. However, in one of the most basic functions, such as making a call, we found that Siri did not allow to activate the speaker directly, so that we had to do it manually, something that is not entirely understandable in a way that you are thinking to use without physically touching the device.

Luckily, this problem has already been fixed in the beta of iOS 8.3, allowing us to directly activate the loudspeaker in calls if we ask Siri to do so. As I said before, "Hey Siri" on the iPhone is only available if it is plugged in, but with the Apple Watch obviously it is not, and in it we find that it is always listening to meet all the needs we may have.

Good news. For those of us who can only afford a car with normal Bluetooth, the command "Hey Siri" was a breakthrough. One thing that should be added is the option to invoke Siri by calling ourselves or a special code. In this way it can be invoked by people with a Bluetooth system that lacks a button for voice commands (like me) without having to connect it to the cigarette lighter adapter.
