Last week Apple released an update for its iOS portable device operating system, specifically released iOS 7.0.6 and iOS 6.1.6 for older devices that had run out of support. The objective of this unexpected update was to resolve a security flaw caused by secure connection protocols on web pages with SSL and TSL verification. It has quickly achieved a good update rate to the new version, reaching the current figure of 25% of users who have made the leap, but this update to iOS 7.0.6 has brought with it some problems.
Apparently when we install this update via iTunes or via OTA (Over The Air), our device suffers a increased battery consumption Excessive, considering the previous version of iOS, 7.0.5 or 7.0.4. Along with this, users have reported that a higher heating than normal in the terminal. This excess consumption could be a bug that has been loose in this sudden update when Apple discovered these security problems.
IPhone users who have updated to iOS 7.0.6 indicate that not only is it a faster consumption of the battery, but that it can last just one hour in worst case, something quite serious. Although in my case if I have detected a somewhat higher consumption of the battery, I have not come to appreciate a greater heating of my iPhone. But there is a possible solution to all these problems, based on closing all the applications that we have open in multitasking and forcing the terminal to restart. These are the steps to follow to remedy it:
- Pressing twice the Home button of the device we access multitasking.
- We must close all the applications that we have open, sliding them up until there are none left.
- We restart the device pressing the Home button and the Power button simultaneously until the apple appears on the screen.
Following these steps it seems that the increased battery consumption that the iOS 7.0.6 update brings with it is reduced, I have tried it and the change is noticeable, although in my case it was not something too excessive. Possibly from Apple a new update is being prepared to fix this fault that has been detected, until then following these steps it can be solved.

Since we updated to iOS 7 the anomalies with the battery started. In iOS 6 we did not find so many errors. I hope 7.1 brings with it a considerable improvement. Of the 5 iPhones that are at home, the two that continue with iOS 6, do not present any fault. It's good that first I started to see comments about that new update, reading several websites it was already clear to me that I will not download this software, much less after having read that the model that ends up most affected by 7.0.6 is the iPhone 5s.
