Is your iPad slow? It's time for cleaning

Since the arrival of iOS 4.2 I began to notice that my iPad sometimes did not react as before, it did not show that lightness that it had when I bought it and it was not so agile, although the fact that the iPhone 4 is possibly influences to create this image a lot. more powerful and faster.

To bring the good performance back to the iPad there are two very clear ways: the first is to restore the device from scratch (which is not recommended if you do not have a lot of free time) and the second is to do a thorough cleaning of applications.

The cleaning is better that you do it on the computer, and when you finish you already synchronize, you hit a restart to the iPad and you will see the change. Of course, you have to erase a considerable number to show it, but come on, I've been wearing it in a while and I've loaded about 30 that I didn't even open.

Can someone explain why deleting applications will make the system go faster? When an application is closed (this can be easily checked by double-clicking on the home button) it does not consume memory or cpu, so it does not slow down the device at all (this is not windows, gentlemen). Another thing is the applications that you install with the jailbreak, which are opened with the springboard and obviously always remain open, but, of the appstore you can install the ones you want that while they are not open they do not slow down ANYTHING.

This is tremendous nonsense… apps in the app store don't consume resources unless they're open (I'm not talking about cydia's). This is not windows, gentlemen!

    Good!

I followed that same step a few days ago, I deleted about 50 applications and perfect! The iPad significantly improved the speed, to go much more fluid, the change between apps shows the truth

    greetings and good afternoon!

colladoman, I assure you that the number of applications you have INSTALLED on the device influences the performance of the system. Do the test yourself, record yourself using the iPad now (without JB if you want), restore, sync with ten or fifteen apps and test. It will go much faster for you SAFE.

colladoman, true, but even if they are closed, they don't occupy a space on the device? I speak to you in a very general way, since an iOS is not the same as a Windows as you say. Read and write times vary, whether it's 2MB or 500GB and more when full.
Again I comment that my iPad was full full, it barely had about 3 or 4 MB free, and I have noticed an improvement, do not expect great times but enough to think that it did not work like the first day.

    regards!

possibly the improvement is because they free up space on the ipad when they no longer have a song or anything less. I think it is like a general rule of operating systems that you leave them free space to use virtual memory (I suppose that for more the ipad to have a few mb for that). I have my iPad with 6 GB of free space and the applications that I do use (the ones that I do not remove after a few days or hours, if the application improves, I can download it for free as many times as I want) and I have never noticed a drop in performance.

After such stupidity I'll tell you what happens. When updating to version +4, that is, 4.2.1, you have multitasking… ..to access it, double-click the home button and below you will see all the open applications, in your case they will be all and that is why you deleted the apps and you noticed improvement. Take them out of multitasking so they don't suck up resources.
As for the wifi connection… .another mac shit and we have to wait a couple of months for 4.3

The author of the post is absolutely right, it is not stupid.
IOS is based on a UNIX system, if you enter the RAW file system you can see folders / var /, / usr /, etc ...
Well, when you run an app, the iPad / iPhone / iPod looks for it in the system, loads it into a swap memory (RAM), and runs it, to make it lighter, when installing an app, resident files are also installed . Deleting a significant number of apps improves performance because searches are shorter and resident files are erased, and iPad has less trouble finding the app in the file system, costs less to load, and has more "room to move." Imagine it as a closet with many drawers (apps), the less we have, the easier it will be for us to find and manage any data.
Obviously closing the applications in the background is essential.

    Hello everyone,

Days ago my iPad 2 started to work very slowly; everything was slow. I read this and other forums. I closed applications, deleted some absurd ones, did several hard resets, etc….

It kept going slow. We came to the conclusion that if it was so difficult for him to process, there must be some problem in the use of the mamoria.

We found a free App called "Memory DR Lite", it can be downloaded in a moment; It presents a very simple screen that explains what% of memory is in use, what% is idle (in my case it was a high%), what percentage is free and what% Wired. Well, you click a big "Optimize" button; and of course it optimizes, it does it at full speed, it minimizes idle memory, yyyyyyy, My iPad behaved as usual again.

Although your iPad has not been stunned, it seems to improve the behavior of the machine; so in the future I will optimize periodically.

Believe me, it works, and it is a free App, I do not gain anything with this; But after spending days and days in despair, this worked like a charm; so I am very grateful, and for that I tell / recommend it.

    Regards,
