Until the coronavirus forced us to stay in our homes, the use of video calling applications was reduced to very specific situations and special occasions, outside the work environment. But with the coronavirus, video calls became the most used applications on all platforms, since it was the only method to be able to carry on a conversation with other people looking at our faces. One of the applications that grew the most during the pandemic was Zoom.
As the months have passed, the guys at Zoom far from settling with being the most used platform to make video calls, they have been improving their service and have added a large number of new functions, both in the version for mobile devices and in the version for desktop computers.
If we talk about the application for iOS, we have to talk about the version for iPad, a version that has just been updated to add gesture recognition. After updating the application, it will be able to detect two gestures (more will come in the future): raise your hand and thumb up.
Use the thumb up It is very useful in a videoconference when we want to give the approval to the topics that are being discussed without interrupting the conversation.
If we use the palm upAs if raising our hands, we want to ask to speak or ask a question but not interrupt the interlocutor who is speaking at the time.
Gesture recognition function is only available in the iPad version of Zoom, not in the iPhone version. Zoom is available for free download and we can use it for free to make video calls that do not exceed 40 minutes in length and 100 participants.
